Stearman: Chops is a Massive Threat Tuesday, 19th Feb 2013 14:41 Richard Stearman has echoed the thoughts of everyone in the Ipswich camp and hailed Michael Chopra’s winning goal against Blackpool. Following his clincher just five minutes into the second half on Saturday, which took his tally for the season to five, Chopra is a likely starter against Watford at Portman Road tonight. Stearman said: “Chops is a popular figure in the dressing room. I think he’s had a bit of a turbulent time recently, although I’ve not heard too much about it, so for him to come off the bench and do what he is best at and score a goal went down really well. “I thought he looked very sharp when he came on and he took his chance very well. I’ve played against Chops in the past and I know he’s a great goalscorer. “He’s a massive threat to teams and you saw it again at the weekend when he came on and scored the winner. If you give him an opportunity, more often than not he will stick it in the back of the net.” And talking about goals, Stearman would love to contribute on that front between now and the end of the season. He scored 15 times in 272 appearances for Leicester and Wolves but has yet to get off the mark for Town in his three games for Town. Stearman said: “I did almost score at Blackburn, right at the death, and to be honest I maybe should have done as well. I like to chip in with one or two throughout the season and hopefully I will get a few more chances. “One or two a season is about as much as I’ve accumulated in my career. I got one for Wolves back in September so I’m probably due another one.”
