Premier Cup Semi-Final Set for Neutral Venue
Wednesday, 27th Feb 2013 09:21

Town’s Suffolk Premier Cup semi-final at Lowestoft, scheduled for next Wednesday, is set to switch to a neutral venue following complaints from the other clubs in the last four. The Trawler Boys’ Crown Meadow was to have staged the game but the Suffolk FA website now states that Kirkley and Pakefield’s Walmer Road will host the match, in which the Blues will field a reserves side (KO 7.45pm).

Premier Cup rules state that semi-finals are to be played at neutral venues, but the clubs and the Suffolk FA initially agreed to play the game at Lowestoft’s Crown Meadow.

But complaints from Bury Town and Leiston, who meet at Needham Market’s Bloomfields on March 12th, have led to the switch to a neutral venue.

It's not the first time there has been controversy in this year's competition with the Blues readmitted after their quarter-final opponents Felixstowe and Walton were kicked out for fielding an ineligible player during their 2-1 victory last month.

Town beat Walsham-le-Willows 5-1 away in the first round.

What about at Felixstowe and Walton the town players might eat the buffet laid on for them. Crusts might be a tad crispy but and a bit of hair on the sausage rolls.

Have I misread this? Why would two clubs not involved with our fixture give a flying hoot where our game is played?!

Because BluePG the other semi finalists. Are playing by the rules and having their match at a neutral ground as outlined by Suffolk FA rules. As we shouldn't even still be in this competition the least we can do is abide by said rules. What a hollow victory it will be if we do end up with this Trophy

what a lot of fuss about nothing surely the other semi finalists are not advantged or dissadvantged by this.the suffolk fa can be a real pain, they are currently making kids in under 7s play 4 a side with no goalie and kick ins and then the very next season moving them to 5 aside with goals and throw ins which make no sense at all.the idea being they kids get better on the ball and passing but the reality is the better players just shoot at the tiny pop up goal from anywhere.

Rubbish cup anyway, bit like winning Johnstone's Paint Trophy! How bad of a club are we now if this is the closest we can get to success?

Hodgie1989 Of course it is a neutral venue. The grounds are opposite ends of the town and the two clubs are rivals. All be it Lowestoft have overtaken Kirkley in the last few years so the rivalry has simmered down.

I hope Lowestoft win anyway would be a hollow victory if we win this trophy after how we went through last round
