Henderson: Clean Sheets Not Just Down to Me Tuesday, 5th Mar 2013 06:04 Stephen Henderson is only too happy to share the credit for his recent record of three clean sheets in the space of four league games. Henderson, on loan from West Ham until the end of the season, said: “We are just so much more solid now. I felt we were being a bit exposed too much previously and since the manager has come in with Terry Connor they have sorted it all out straight away. “There’s still a long way to go and we have a very tough game at Forest tonight. But I can see us defending as we have been doing and we’re also capable of nicking a goal.” Henderson paid tribute to the defensive mind set of his colleagues, who have all played their part in Town’s transformation under Mick McCarthy. He added: “The manager has stuck with the same defensive selection and we’re starting to reap the rewards now. We have found a system to play and it seems to be working quite well so all credit to him for persevering with it. “Guirane N’Daw and Luke Hyam have also been great in front of the back four, blocking stuff. But it starts with the strikers, as the manager keeps reminding us, and the guys up front have been putting their shifts in really well. “I love keeping clean sheets and it’s credit, not only to the back four but the whole side, for the way they have protected me. I just hope it continues. “I’d gladly go a full season without making a save. Goalkeepers can be having a quiet time but then suddenly, towards the end, they get called upon to make an important save. “That’s the difference between average and world class keepers. Maybe in the past I was getting involved in stuff I shouldn’t have been and I’ve learned to let the others deal with it. “Then, when I’m needed, I’m there for them. Scott Loach has also been outstanding, as I said when I first came here. I have a great relationship with him. “Scott started the game against Middlesbrough and I was there for him like he’s been there for me. There are no issues at all.”
