Henderson: Clean Sheets Not Just Down to Me
Tuesday, 5th Mar 2013 06:04

Stephen Henderson is only too happy to share the credit for his recent record of three clean sheets in the space of four league games.

Henderson, on loan from West Ham until the end of the season, said: “We are just so much more solid now. I felt we were being a bit exposed too much previously and since the manager has come in with Terry Connor they have sorted it all out straight away.

“There’s still a long way to go and we have a very tough game at Forest tonight. But I can see us defending as we have been doing and we’re also capable of nicking a goal.”

Henderson paid tribute to the defensive mind set of his colleagues, who have all played their part in Town’s transformation under Mick McCarthy.

He added: “The manager has stuck with the same defensive selection and we’re starting to reap the rewards now. We have found a system to play and it seems to be working quite well so all credit to him for persevering with it.

“Guirane N’Daw and Luke Hyam have also been great in front of the back four, blocking stuff. But it starts with the strikers, as the manager keeps reminding us, and the guys up front have been putting their shifts in really well.

“I love keeping clean sheets and it’s credit, not only to the back four but the whole side, for the way they have protected me. I just hope it continues.

“I’d gladly go a full season without making a save. Goalkeepers can be having a quiet time but then suddenly, towards the end, they get called upon to make an important save.

“That’s the difference between average and world class keepers. Maybe in the past I was getting involved in stuff I shouldn’t have been and I’ve learned to let the others deal with it.

“Then, when I’m needed, I’m there for them. Scott Loach has also been outstanding, as I said when I first came here. I have a great relationship with him.

“Scott started the game against Middlesbrough and I was there for him like he’s been there for me. There are no issues at all.”

Hendo has done alright but when I went to Huddersfield I experienced that he told his own fans to f**k off, and I do not tolerate that, all the money we fans pay every week and thats how he rates us, unacceptable. Not that I was booing, would never do that at all.
Anyhow lets try and get a result today! COYB

well, i was there (the worst game in history) and he was the only reason it stayed 0-0 so he call me every name under the sun if he plays like that every week.

Sindre94......absolutely spot on
I was there too with friends and teenagers and his reaction to the supporters was dreadful.....and superted as you were there you know that his saves whilst important were far from world class so although necessary our other two keepers would probably have made them......the fans were dismayed that his poor distribution and time wasting didnt encourage the team to go and look for the win.....and certainly didnt encourage me when debating another 700 mile round trip.......clean sheets are great and credit to him for helping with the last few....but if we just draw nil nil all season we go down.....its always the balance and that is what fans were dissapointed with.....to then be told to F**& off was out of order and not the kind of reaction I want to witness from any player that puts on a town shirt

So he gets booed and criticised for not being Scott Loach, gives a little back and he is the villain, god we have some awful fans at this club, spoils the name of the majority of good ones

Hollywoodginge......ironic that you post a comment slagging yourself off.......but that's probably because you don't go to the games.......to condone this behaviour only puts you in the category of an awful fan.......shame on you
