Town defender Tommy Smith has been named in the Championship Team of the Week for his display in Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Leicester City.

Smith was last named in the Football League’s select XI a month ago when he scored twice in the 4-0 home defeat of Middlesbrough.

Looks solid at the back and always a goal threat. would just like to see his distribution picking up a little. Credit to the management team, it wasnt that long ago this lad was being sent back from Colchester for having such a nightmare, clearly a confidence player and for me player of the year.....

Ipswichbusiness added 17:41 - Mar 5 With regard to what Popeye has commented, I think that vultures are normally interested in the dying, but I think I know what he means and I agree that it is a real fear that Smith and Cresswell will start to attract interest from Premiership clubs; without them the defence could start to deteriorate quite quickly.
