Supporters Club chair Elizabeth Edwards told TWTD: “It's great to see a footballer making off pitch headlines for the right reasons.
"This is a great gesture by Tyrone and all the better that the fans were rewarded with a home win.”
Mings, who joined the Blues from Chippenham Town after a trial in December, has been praised by supporters of clubs throughout football and also former players, with ex-England and Arsenal man Ian Wright tweeting: “What a dude!”
I keep telling TWTD what a great lad snd very tslented young footballer he is . Believe you me this young man will be in the first team next season and Cresswell will have been sold for a good profit . Mark my words.
chops have you seen him play, i have watched 3 games v f/stowe,colchester and brentwood he a decent young player but not that good. Tickets are given away every week by players i have benefited from tkts fom cormac burke, it goes on all the time.
@ChrisMakin2012 No-one said he is a class player who should be played every week, just a classy person to make such a fantastic gesture. It's brilliant to have a news headline involving an Ipswich Town player for positive reasons.
It was a great gesture but I'm not surprised as, coming from a non-league background, he has not yet got the selfish arrogance of many footballers. What a pity the recipient wasn't grateful enough to see the game through - and I'm glad he missed the goal
We need some more positive stories about our players as there are unfortunately too many negative ones this season. I would rather the club gave away some more tickets each week as we have 13,000+ empty seats for each game, rather than leave them empty. Hopefully now Clegg has gone we will get a new enlightened pricing system for next season to make the majority of seats more affordable for everyone, especially when we have two home games in a week , plus more promotions for seasonticket holders friends and kids for quids - all those empty seats at the bottom of the stands look so embarassing on the TV !!!
This was a wonderful gesture and Tyrone Mings deserves all the plaudits for it. I hope he breaks through to the first team soon and I am sure all true supporters will welcome him to the fold very warmly indeed!
i have been having a debate with some fans of other clubs as far away as Inverness on Twitter about this story! Yes i think we are aware that players hand out spare tickets to fans all the time. However this is a little different for me in that it was a random comment on Twitter from a fan and he went out of his way to sort tickets for the guy when it would have been simple to read and ignore Anyway.. as others have said, it is nice to read about something like this rather than the usual "player discgraces himself" stories so often in the press!
While I applaud what Tyrone did I think that the fan in question should not rub other ST holders noses in it by tweeting after the match he was eating a kebab on the way home from the match who paid for that I wonder if he was skint, also how did he get from Haverhill to Ipswich and back and who paid for that if he was skint?
