Kiwomya Named Permanent Notts County Boss
Kiwomya Named Permanent Notts County Boss
Wednesday, 27th Mar 2013 19:19

Former Blues striker and coach Chris Kiwomya has been named the manager of Notts County on a permanent basis, signing a three-year contract. Kiwomya, previously the development coach at Meadow Lane, was named caretaker-boss after Keith Curle’s departure and then was given the job until the end of the season.

County chairman Ray Trew said: “Chris has showed in the short time that he has been in charge of the first team that he has a great passion for the game, is tireless in his endeavours, communicates extremely well with the board, sharing our vision, and anyone who has been fortunate enough to speak to him in person will have seen his enthusiasm for every detail of every performance.

“When making this appointment we were looking for someone who could realise our long-term vision for the club, someone that we could work with to bring progressive success alongside the development of young, homegrown talent from our successful youth set-up.

“Chris is well respected throughout the football community for his ability to develop players, as well as spotting raw talent in youngsters, something that we are confident will help foster stronger working relationships with clubs, particularly at a higher level.

“We are not putting any immediate demands or expectations on Chris, we have said to him that the team is his to mould as he sees fit and to prepare for the new season.”

Kiwomya’s record as boss of the Magpies, who are 11th in League One, seven points from the play-offs, so far reads won three, drawn six and lost two.

A club which seem to have been 'threatening' to reach the play offs for the past few years, and haven't been too patient with managers if I remember right, so a tough place to start off in management (but they seem to be prepared to give him time) so if he succeeds = a hero. All the best to him.

He wouldn't give me his shirt when we went on the pitch at Oxford when we were promoted, but I'll forgive him for that! Best of luck to him.

When I started going to Ipswich as a 10-year old back in 1991 CK was epic. Him and Dozzell upfront, what a season and player he was for us. Good luck to you Chris, glad you're still in the game and I really hope you do well as a manager and inspire a few more generations to come!
