Drury: Town Can Claim Six Points
Friday, 29th Mar 2013 06:01

Andy Drury has underlined the importance of the Easter weekend and boldly declares that he and his Ipswich team-mates are capable of taking all six points from their next two games.

Following tomorrow’s clash with Leeds at Portman Road the players are quickly in action again on Monday afternoon with a trip to Millwall.

Drury said: “Easter is normally the time of the year that makes or breaks you, whether you are promotion or relegation candidates. It’s vital that we get some points on the board over the next few days.

“I think we are capable of winning on our day against anyone in this league — as most teams are. We have eight games left and with our form since the gaffer took over, I think we can easily win five or six of them.

“I really think we are capable of getting all six points against Leeds and Millwall. They are both winnable games and if we’re on form I can see us winning them.”

Drury’s confidence is easily explained by the much-improved form, since Mick McCarthy replaced Paul Jewell, which has reaped 39 points from 25 league games.

He added: “We’ve virtually been on play-off form since the gaffer came in and we go into every game expecting to win.

“There’s also a decent team spirit, although that has been the case ever since I joined from Luton. There have been a lot of comings and goings since then but it hasn’t affected the team spirit and at the moment I would say it is particularly good.”

The telling word here is "can".
Let's be a bit more positive Drury and say "will!!"

''on our day'' is a phrase most teams will be saying, or hoping. I'm confident MM is the man to make it happen - fingers crossed.

In this league you just cannot call it. Leeds still think they have a chance of the play offs so this is the last chance saloon for them but hopefully our crowd can spur us on. Worried about our goalkeeper and the crosses Leeds will try to pour into our box but hope Loachy can excel along with our excellent defence. Must pick up points over the next two games as lots of fixtures where Clubs in the bottom half are playing each other. A point a game will keep us up but hoping for at least 3 this weekend.
