Thursday, 18th Apr 2013 15:22

ÍBV chairman Oskar Orn Oskarsson has confirmed that released Blues youngster Gunnar Thorsteinsson has signed a two-year deal with the Icelandic club managed by ex-Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson.

Oskarsson said: "Gunnar Thorsteinsson has signed a two-year deal with ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar. Gunnar began his footballing career at ÍBV before moving to Grindavik."

Thorsteinsson joined the Town academy from Grindavik two years ago but was not offered a professional deal by manager Mick McCarthy. The 19-year-old played for ÍBV in their fundraising friendly at Portsmouth on Tuesday.
