Cresswell: End Season On a High
Friday, 19th Apr 2013 06:01

Aaron Cresswell wants to end the season on a high note with a maximum haul of nine points from Town’s three remaining games.

With Mick McCarthy’s men climbing to 13th place courtesy of the midweek home win over Crystal Palace, a 100 per cent record in their final three fixtures would earn them a top-half finish.

That was something that nobody would have dared predict when McCarthy arrived in November to succeed the departed Paul Jewell and the club was rock-bottom of the Championship with just seven points from their opening 13 games.

Cresswell said: “It was a massive win over Palace and in our position every point, never mind three, is vital to us. Also, although a couple of teams around us in the table had wins, others drew their games and that worked in our favour too.

“Now we’re just looking forward to the next game. We’re five points clear of the relegation zone but with three games left we’re still not yet mathematically safe. Another win should do us so the quicker that comes along the better it will be for everyone.

“The target now is to finish as high as we possibly can. We want to get nine points from our remaining three games and see where it takes us.”

A win at Wednesday will see us over the line, I would take a draw and I can't seeing us dropping from there. B'ham is a game we can win at home with a solid display but I wouldn't want to go into it if we lose Sat and there are a freak set of results below us!
I'm sure we are fine now but I won't relax until we are mathematically safe so fairplay to Mick and Cressy who all week have said that they have no intention of taking their foot off the gas.

If we can do as Creswell suggests it will show how far we have come, all three games are winnable and if we want to avoid being in this position next season we should be looking to take 5 points from these fixtures, if we want to be at the top end of the table we would be aiming for 7.

(Plus I'm hoping Norwich lose to Reading tomorrow and we could have the derby back next season)

Come on lads, I have full faith. Keep up the good work.
