Striker Michael Chopra says it’ll be down to him whether he leaves Town this summer, having been told that the Blues will listen to offers for him along with team-mate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Chopra tweeted: “Just coz I'm on the transfer list does not mean I have to leave. I have one year left on my contract it’s down to the player if he wants to go or not.”

The 29-year-old, who joined the Blues from Cardiff for £1 million in the summer of 2011, was the subject of loan offers from Hull City and other clubs in January but manager Mick McCarthy was unwilling to allow him to move on at that time.

Ex-Arsenal man Emmanuel-Thomas, 22, also has a year left on his Town contract.

I cant see him leaving as no one will offer him the £18000 we are giving him and he obviously doesnt care whether he plays or not. and I agree he really isnt the smartest guy on Earth.

Our midfield hasn't been the best at this for quite a long time, and I hope that given the service he would recapture his goal scoring form at Cardiff. Although now I can see why some Cardiff fans got annoyed with him, he doesn't help himself sometimes.

Will there be another club willing to take the risk that we have with him only time will tell. Once a gambler, always a gambler especially when you have too much free time on your hands during the day. Chops you could have been special and you've wasted the talent you have.

Sadly his signing which most of us wanted has been one problem after another and certainly has done little to help our Club in its quest for suiccess apart from a few wonder goals every now and then. There is no doubt Chopra has let our Club down big time in more ways than one, but we were warned by Cardiff City fans and they turned out to be right.

marcusevans added 11:18 - May 6 I wonder if when he is older (and maybe a little wiser) that Chopra will look back on his 'career' and realise that talent alone was not enough to succeed. He's obviously full of anger and hatred. If only he could wake up and realise that channelling those emotions into work ethic, determination and a positive attitude would quite likely propel him back to the Premier League. He's his own worst enemy. Shame we've never seen the best of him. Come to think of it, just how many years ago now did Chopra really perform? Too long ago.

After everything he has gone through, & everything he has put us through, since coming to the club you'd like to think that he'd have a bit more respect & sense than to immediately send out a defiant tweet suggesting he'll sit on his backside for the season on £18k. At 29 it doesn't look like he's going to get any smarter, nicer or more humble.

Mark added 11:44 - May 6 I expect he will leave on a loan deal where ITFC pay about £10K-a-week of his wages. It's all very sad, we thought we were buying a proven Championship goal scorer for £1M (didn't Keane want him for about £4M a year earlier?) but he ended up transfer listed before the end of his contract.

How much is JET on a week? I'm not too concerned whether he leaves or not. Flashes of rare brilliance aren't enough to get us promoted. There's been improvement in his ability to do the boring, graft work but how much longer will it take and how much more time do we need to invest in him just to get the basics right that good semi-pros are doing week in week out?

SouperJim added 12:04 - May 6 Chopra isn't the sharpest tool in the box, nothing new there. Unfortunately most footballers are equally mercenary, they're just better at hiding it. Not worth getting excited about. As others have said, he's no doubt on a decent wage here and the chances aren't great that another club will offer him a deal lucrative enough to shift him. He is towards the end of his career however, so a 3-year offer on less money might tempt him. If he does stay, we should be making use of him. He remains a significant goal scoring threat at this level if you get his head in the right place and if he does stay he'll be in the shop window.

What he may not be realising is that after another of mediocrity he might find it difficult to find a club next summer willing to give him a offer anything like he's on at the moment, so it would be worth his while considering any options put in front of him this summer.

Lord_Mac added 12:21 - May 6 One of the reasons MM was so successful in turning the team's fortunes around was that he engendered a team spirit. Chopra is a disruptive influence, so should be kept as far away from the team as possible. Pay him his money to sit at home if we must. I wouldn't even want him training with or playing for the reserves. Martin is a disruptive influence in a different way - he cannot be trusted to keep his ego/temper under control and not sacrifice the team's needs for a cheap yellow or red card. I don't think it matters what these players may or may not do as individuals, they are just not team players.

algarvefan added 12:34 - May 6 What an arrogant idiot Chopra is making himself look, Michael if you said you wanted to stay and you were going to fight to regain your place in the team you might at least get some respect. Sadly off field issues have had a huge impact on his game, can't honestly see anyone else wanting him unless we foot most of the bill. A classic case of the tail trying to wag the dog, no wonder so many people dislike footballers these days!!!!!

Had he said he wanted to stay and fight for his place in the team to prove his doubters wrong then I think the tone of responses would be more positive. Instead he's strongly implying that he's comfortable with the status quo of being a higly paid fringe player. Whatever he does after football, I suggest avoiding PR.

Bergholtblue added 12:36 - May 6 Make him train with the youth team! Don't want his attitude affecting the first team squad. Ming you don't want him affecting the youth team. To think that PJ put Bullard on a 2 week suspension and then just slapped Chopra's wrist. Sooner gone the better.
