Town Linked With Saints Defender
Sunday, 26th May 2013 16:56

Town, Bournemouth and Wolves have been linked with a move for out-of-contract Southampton centre-half Dan Seaborne.

Last season, the 26-year-old spent time on loan with Championship Charlton and in League One with Bournemouth and the newly-promoted Cherries are understood to want to make his move permanent.

Barnstaple-born Seaborne started his career with Exeter City and spent time on loan with non-league Clyst Rovers, Tiverton, Taunton and Dorchester while a young player with the Grecians.

Having made 91 starts and five appearances as sub for Exeter, scoring five times, the 6ft 3in tall centre-half or left-back joined Southampton for an undisclosed fee in January 2010. Since then he has made 37 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Saints without scoring.

Seaborne missed most of Southampton’s 2011/12 promotion campaign after receiving serious head injuries when he was assaulted outside a nightclub.

He returned to action at the start of last season but his only appearances for the Saints came in the Capital One Cup before he made his moves out on loan.

If these links are true, I think we're looking at a 5-3-2 formation with cressy and X as wingbacks.

Hewitt would be an ideal wingback best crosser we had last season

Welcome back folks to another series of Linkety Link!

Just waiting to be linked again to Lewis Dunk, the Brighton player who we were linked with last season, as his contract is up at the end of June.

Interesting suggesting with the 3-5-2 and wing backs, Cresswell and Hewitt would make good wing backs and then Smith, Chambers and Stearman (hopefully) as the back 3. Not sure we should stray too far from what worked brilliantly at the end of the season though.

Neither of your sentences make any sense so it is difficult to argue against what point you are trying to make.
Your illiterate sentence is actually annoying me more than the fact I believe you are a Norwich fan.
Having said that, the fact you are a Norwich fan should excuse you for your lack of punctuational and grammatical sense with the likely hood of the four thumbs on your "writing" hand.

Phil, as this is a website/ forum for the benefit of IPSWICH FANS ONLY, is it possible to get this blue moon idiot's account removed?

Having spent most of his career in the south west, i think Bournemouth more likely his destination rather than Wolves/Ipswich.

Oh I see, we do not want to stray too far from the team that finished the season. Does that mean you will all be happy if we finish in the bottom half again? That team suited our league position and If he starts next season with the same back 4 I will be not be going.

Wayway

Do you mean the same back four that was the best defence in the championship in the second half of the season? The same defence that kept a lot of clean sheets? Sorry unless I'm missing something I am scratching my head as to why you wouldn't want the same back four? I'd be interested to know why you'd like to rip the back four apart and even more intrigued to know who you would bring in??

Must agree with most that this is probably linkitis, so not getting to concerned at this stage. As to BLUEMOON9, who could blame the poor little sap wanting to come on a decent forum, I'd rather come on here than go on scummers forum. He'll still talk like a TWIT until he's had the cure of being on here and communicating with proper real people for some while, but everyone need a salvation, this is obviously his.

Mick is known to prefer 4-4-2. I was hoping for some 3-5-2 action last year but we only saw it very briefly in one town home game near the end of the season. Cresswell isn't suited to it though. His use of the ball is simply not good enough IMO.

I had a look on a couple of Bournemouth forums to get their thoughts on him. He was dropped after an error in a game against Bury in March, but was being heavily criticised by fans for errors in previous games, for example against Orient earlier in the month.

I have put a thread up on the forum with more details about this, but the gist is that Bournemouth supporters have very little confidence in him.

Now watch him sign tomorrow!

I don't think that was Blue-Moon09 who actually wrote that I think it was probably his sister or his mother. One in the same thing really.

Not familiar with this guy - but clearly there are a number of out of contract players available. Hopefully we can be competitive and sign a few this pre-season.

I should think MM is searching for Goals & quality first team regulars, not back up defenders & I'm sure if he really wants a player he will find the money..........if they are worth it! We probably wont hear of any real possible signings until he is sat in the office taking to Mick, once there, if he's the right player for us he will sign. no worries.

although i'm sure they would take to Mick! but i meant talking...
