JET Facing FA Misconduct Charge
Monday, 1st Jul 2013 16:44

Midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is facing an FA misconduct charge for comments he made on Twitter. The Blues and Bristol City are currently discussing a swap deal involving the former Arsenal man and Robins winger Paul Anderson.

An FA statement reads: “Ipswich Town’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been charged by The FA for an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in that he posted a comment on Twitter which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

“It is further alleged that breach includes a reference to a person or persons’ sexual orientation within the meaning of FA Rule E3(2). Emmanuel-Thomas has until 4pm on 3 July 2013 to respond.”

While there will be no official statement from the club regarding the charge, which relates to comments made earlier in the summer, we understand that Emmanuel-Thomas has been spoken to by Town regarding the tweets.

With his possible move to Bristol City under discussion, we understand Emmanuel-Thomas did not travel with the rest of the squad to Ireland this morning with Bristol sources reporting that he was due at Ashton Gate for talks today.

Hope this doesn't effect him being sold for a good price if he does go. But I still wanted him to stay. If I'm hounest I though he was better than that.

What has he said?

I wonder what he said. Personally I have a zero tolerance attitude to racism/homophobia and will be glad he's gone if he's said what is implied.

On the other hand I'm surprised anyone can understand his tweets in the first place.

He's probably been a total prat, like a fair few young people who use twitter. Shame he doesn't spend more time improving his vast football potential instead of those stupid quacks or whatever they are called.
The downfall in his approach which has left him on the verge of a switch to League 1 with Bristol City instead of Premiership football with Fulham.

I follow JET on Twitter and see most of his tweets, I have never seen anything of the sort and he is usually very well behaved on there.my only complaint as I posted at the time was when he pulled a sickie last week but had been tweeting about his night out. Once again though the FA coming down on a player for this alleged offence but taking no action against a player nearly snapping another's leg!! They don't half strike me as a 2 bob outfit!

Players would be better advised to say less on Twitter!

You would have thought the FA has got better things to be looking at that than grimy old Twitter...spend some time sorting our national teams dire predicament. Bunch of incompetence!

Probably said gay in a non offensive way as a joke or something like everyone else does on a daily basis, follow him on twitter and he's never posted anything offensive or had arguments on there like a certain mr chopra

He might have said something out of line but the FA need to focus their attention on other things such as whether or not we will get to the World Cup and the decline of national football in this country.

Lets give the lad a break, he's young and we all do and say stupid things when were young whether a footballer or butcher.

The quicker him and Chopra leave the club the better. Both are bad role models.

If JET put the same effort into clubbing and twitter he would be one hell of a player

Don't know what he said but if its like the usual cases nowadays you can't say anything without the PC nutters finding something to be offensive!

It does make me laugh when these sort of things crop up, people turn to slag off Twitter. It can be used responsibly you understand, the onus is on the user to behave, not the medium itself.
I can only assume those running Twitter down are too busy buying postal orders, eating spam and putting blankets over the TV set at night to realise we ARE now in the 21st century!

Floridaboy fair enough about chopra but not a lot of people know JET is pretty much the only one who goes and watches the youth teams, goes to school matches and local cup finals, off his own back without being forced to by the club, he is in fact a very good representative of the club in my opinion.
