Doncaster Set to Sign Forrester
Tuesday, 2nd Jul 2013 11:10

Doncaster Rovers are reported to have agreed a deal to sign Brentford midfielder Harry Forrester, who was eyed by Blues boss Mick McCarthy during 2012/13.

The 22-year-old, who was offered new terms by the Bees, is out of contract at Griffin Park this summer.

Meanwhile, another player believed to be interesting Town, 22-year-old ex-Cheltenham midfielder Marlon Pack, says he’s considering various contract offers: "I hope to make a decision on my future imminently. I have spoken to several clubs and managers and I am weighing up my options.

"I hope to get my future resolved as quickly as possible so that I can get join up for pre-season and get ready for the new season."

Former Portsmouth man Pack has turned down the offer of a new contract at Whaddon Road.

Another alleged 'Link' - any wideman . midfielder out here we are supposed to have been interested in - MM will do fine for us next season - let him prepare and I am sure a couple of new faces will be arriving . Until Chopra and JET are gone money is tight - Fact of life for everyone - remember - it was us who signed them - so we have to deal with it - albeit not MM but ME

I'm pretty sure we didn't miss out on him, ChrisMakin, it's been reported several times that our interest had cooled. Not too bothered if MM decided against it.

Phil said that we weren't in for him anyway.

Prpare for board meltdown.

The point is MM watched him.

......and decided he wasnt quite what we wanted.

...move on, nothing to see here.

Makin, don't be naive. We may have looked at this guy but it doesn't mean we ever had an intention to sign him.

Makin, if it was the clegg days he would have been at portman road, looked at the training ground, and then met captain cock-up before it all went wrong!

I reckon he is just one name in a long list of possible targets, definately not first choice!

Good player but who knows maybe we never made an offer. No point in getting too caught up in these rumours. I trust McCarthy's judgement, he has done well with his business so far this summer. Just a couple more attacking midfielders with creativity and I think we will have a solid squad.

Forrester, Judge, Grant, Anderson....

These are just some of the links that have gone (are going) nowhere. Imagine how many other prospective targets there are which lead to nothing! An unenviable task in modern day football!

The target is to be playing premier league football so signing Forrester and Joel Grant wouldnt of done this for us, so yeah good. The players we need are the Jay Tabb's. Only dissapointment is Alan Judge however he was a Blackburn Youth and their manager was the person who gave him a chance in football..

Can't be that good then. I think Pack would be a useful addition but not a lot better than we already have but its nice to have extra bodies in the squad.

good to see chris makin back, as negative as ever. no change there. guru, while not wanting to be drawn on the clegg debate(cant actually believe ne1 still going on about him tbh), just remember, he completed the signings of more players than ne other ceo/chairman before him.

I love the flouncing when a player that we are linked with signs for somebody else. If we signed every player we are linked with we would have a squad of about 100. Get a grip. There is no evidence to state that any bid was even placed.

Why is this news? nothing official from the club yet again, load of rubbish

If, and it's a big If, we did try to sign him and have lost out to the buying power of Doncaster and Yeovil in the past week - it would be very disappointing. Note the word 'IF' though!

jas. we didn't try to sign him. we watched him but as reported on here and in east Anglian several weeks ago, mms interest cooled due to the fact hes inconsistent. have to be honest, ive seen Brentford live on tv a few times last season and hes never done anything in those games to suggest hes that good neway, so im not bohered in the least that he gone elsewhere

If we still "lose out to clubs like Doncaster like in the Clegg days". It must mean Clegg wasnt THAT bad

Sindre94 - that's a very fair comment !

Quite amazing how Forrester was being hailed from the rooftops a couple of weeks back - now the same people are saying not consistent enough, etc: etc; - didn't thing a players worth and ability could change so quickly !!

That's quite a coup for Doncaster imho, he could have gone to a far bigger club. He's certainly a talented young player.
