Campbell Rejoins Blackburn
Thursday, 4th Jul 2013 11:44

Former Blues loanee DJ Campbell has rejoined Blackburn Rovers on a two-year contract having been released by QPR at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old, who scored 10 goals in a 17-game spell at Portman Road in the first half of 2012/13, joined Rovers on loan in February after the Ewood Park club had failed to get a permanent deal done before the January transfer window closed.

Blackburn are also expected to complete the signing of centre-half Matt Kilgallon, who held talks with the Blues soon after his release by Sunderland.

Earlier in the summer, Rovers fought off Town to sign former Notts County winger Alan Judge.

Meanwhile, Lee Martin has completed his move to Millwall, signing a one-year deal.

Oh dear. Another linked player joining a rival club. When is this going to end? Judge, Forrester, Campbell, etc...the list is endless. When are we going to realise that we can't compete with clubs like Blackburn, and that the best we can hope for this season is a relegation battle, let alone staying up.

What about the four players we've signed already then Liastro? Also, doesn't the transfer window close on 31st August and not today?

I know most fans didnt want him back but i think a choice of the four forwards we have plus Campbell would have been a really strong group with lots of options.I think weve missed a trick here.
It all seems down to the fact we have no cash and while i think Mick picks up some great signings on the cheap surely Evans can find a couple of mill to get players like Henderson and Stearman back.
He saw how they helped the team last season.
Micks not a miracle worker and while i think we'll be there or thereabouts this year a liitle faith from the owner would come in handy

Liastro 3109 - We can't compete with Blackburn and many other clubs as they have millions in parachute money and we do not.

Look at the bigger picture and you will see that we have made more progress in signing players at this stage of pre season than we have done for a number of years. They are decent and proven players too and w

Wow Liastro - you're some kind of a leader. Move over General Patton, Monty et al. We're all doomed!

Truth is, we have reverted to our old position of being a small/medium club who need to produce home grown talent and find nugget transfers. This is the way the club has always been and has done it rather well down the years. We will cut our cloth accordingly and be patient. We will not be relegated next season, but we may not be promoted for a while either. We will build like the old days.

From what I have heard, at best we will only be able to make a couple more additions to the squad - gk cover and other likely to be a defender. Will be relying on a tight squad + youth this season

Having just or recently signed McGoldrick, Nouble and Murphy, plus with Taylor coming back, don't think MM is really in the market for a striker just now

The fact is that this guy came and did the business at PR and scored as many goals in a third of a season than we have seen by our forwards over recent years score in an entire season.................and in no small part kept us in the league. We openly declared that we wanted to sign him and he openly declared that he was willing to join.............BUT again we offer fook all to prospective employees that are any good and subsequently they go elsewhere, same old same old...............EVANS OUT

To be fair............................ I dont think we have even been linked with him recently?

Would some of you stop moaning and get a grip.

Are Blackburn just offering contracts to every player we're interested in? Judge, DJ, Kilgallon...

It seems pretty obvious he wasn't going to come back, we know Mick is working to a budget and we are never going to compete with clubs who have the benefit of parachute payments.

I'm have to say I'm happy with the number of signings Mick has secured already, I'm sure he'll make more, as he has said there will be players who won't have a club as it gets closer to the window closing and will have to lower their wage demands, I think a lot of our business will be done then.

Money talks, woud be nice if MM was allowed to spend a bit though.Perhaps ME is getting a bit strapped for cash?

Tractorog added 16:46 - Jul 4
Does splashing the cash get you promoted... ? Only occasionally and not for us.
Does promoting youth and developing a squad slowly.... it has for us before.
For the first time in years it does not feel like or strategy is chuck the dice and see what turns up or set our hearts on X and pay over the odds to get X who then turns out is a mercenary who can only be arsed when he feels like it.

Good signing for Blackburn but no idea why anyone would want to go to them right now, must be the money. Their manager probably won't make it through the first month going on the previous decisions of their owners.

I don't believe we were really heavily linked with him were we? Even so, no surprise he chose Blackburn, because we could not afford his massive wages! And you can bet he isn't cheap.
