Town have confirmed that striker David McGoldrick has signed a two-year permanent contract at Portman Road. The 25-year-old agreed the terms of the deal in January but was unable to formalise the contract until his time at Nottingham Forest was officially at an end.

Having spent the first half of 2012/13 on a half-season loan at Coventry, where he scored 17 times, McGoldrick joined Town on a 93-day loan in January, the longest period permitted.

After scoring four goals in 13 starts and one sub appearance for Town, his spell came to an end, but he remained training at Playford Road for the remainder of the season with the Blues continuing to pay his wages until the end of his Forest contract on Sunday.

McGoldrick is currently with the rest of the Town squad at their training camp at Carton House in County Kildare.

I wouldn't be surprised if he forms a lethal partnership with Paul Taylor (just behind) and Frank Nouble. I'm not gonna try and tell MM and TC how to organise formations. Now MM and TC need to get some more gems in and really strengthen the squad in all areas. COYB!!

I also like the thought of having Nouble & McGoldrick up top with Taylor in behind. Still think we need a winger, right back and goalkeeper and we are there.
