Broadfoot Stays at Blackpool
Friday, 5th Jul 2013 20:15

Defender Kirk Broadfoot, who was understood to have been offered terms by Town, has agreed a new one-year contract with his current club Blackpool. The Blues have been mentioned in connection with the Scot since March, having previously been linked after he left Rangers last summer, while Barnsley were also believed to be interested.

The 28-year-old says he’s happy at Bloomfield Road and hints that he also had options back in Scotland: "I obviously signed for a year [at first] just to see how it was and I loved it at Blackpool, the boys I get on great with and everybody about the club.

"I took my time to make my decision because I didn't want to rush into anything. I contemplated staying up the road for family reasons but when you think about it, why not come back to the Championship because it's an exciting league?

“It's not so much on my doorstep but it's not far down for my family and my mum and dad to nip down in the car."

Yes, glad that's over. We're too far away from his family anyway.

Good news! Didn't like the look of this deal for some reason but who's our back up centre back!?

Any relation to Joe Broadfoot? Didn't like the look of this deal either, far better players around on Bosmans.

Happy enough with this. Never saw him as a first team player & the thoughts of him as a replacement for Stearman was frightening. Would be much happier with Hewitt at right back than him.
Now, lets hope Mick & Marcus put all their energy & money into bringing in Stearman, permanently.

Is Kisnorbo still available? I'd be happy to have him back.

No surprise - Blackpool is a better location if his family live in Scotland. Plus, from what I've heard / read about him - he's not exactly any better than we already have.

we are in need of good competition for our CB's.. we suffered with same dilemma in the days of DeVos, and one of the reasons we are still in this league..

Without another target being named, this must mean that Stearman is a top transfer target now! Really want him back!
