Seaborne With Blues at Shelbourne
Saturday, 6th Jul 2013 16:31

Former Southampton defender Dan Seaborne is with the Blues in Ireland and is amongst the subs for today's friendly at Shelbourne which kicks off at 5pm.

The 26-year-old was linked with Town in May after his release by the Saints. AFC Bournemouth, where he spent time on loan last season, were also said to be interested.

Manager Mick McCarthy isn't at the game as he has a prior engagement in the UK, so Terry Connor is in charge of the side.

Skipper Carlos Edwards is also missing as he's with Trinidad and Tobago at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the US, while striker Paul Taylor didn't make the trip as he is taking his recovery from his foot injury steadily, along with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, whose move to Bristol City is still under discussion.

Keeper Dean Gerken is also with the squad and will play the second half, along with centre-half Seaborne.

Town first half: Loach, Hewitt, Cresswell, Chambers, Mings, Skuse, Timlin, Wordsworth, Nouble, Chopra, Carson.

Town second half: Gerken, Hammond, Smith, Seaborne, October, Lawrence, Hyam, Berkane, McGoldrick, Tabb, Murphy.

Seaborne settles in the squad, see him sell himself in the second at Shelbourne on Saturday.

6-1 to the blues with Chopra scoring two in the first half and McGoldrick scoring a second half hat trick (maybe)

COYB!

Pretty strong teams we're putting out I think, even if they are a bit of a mish mash of pros, scholars and trialists.

Would've liked to have seen Taylor play, obviously he isn't match fit get though. Hopefully we'll see him in some other pre season fixtures.

I could not understand why Taylor is not there ???? because the whole week has just been training sessions !!! with this match at the end, which he could have been excluded from

I think with the other strikers going to Ireland for the week MM said there wasn't going to room for him as well. Plus he played in the U18's game against Coggeshall last weekend.

I believe Seabourne would be a good addition to the squad if a deal is on, a chance to show what he can do even if it is only half a game against a youthful Shelbourne team.

Seaborne is not good enough, hope we don't pursue this one. I see Stephen Ward is linked again too - NO WAY!
