Connor: Developments on JET Deal Soon
Saturday, 6th Jul 2013 21:07

Assistant manager Terry Connor says there could be developments on the swap deal which would see Jay Emmanuel-Thomas move to Bristol City and Paul Anderson join the Blues over the weekend. Discussions between the clubs have been ongoing for more than a week.

Emmanuel-Thomas was missing from the Town squad which travelled to Ireland and Connor confirmed that that was due to the proposed switch: “It was only fair that we didn’t prejudice anything in terms of his move to Bristol City, so we felt it was best for him to stay and do some work back at the training ground and be ready for whatever happens this week.”

Regarding any recent progress on the deal, he added: “Not that I know of. I’ve been over here so I’ve not got [to know] everything, but when I spoke to the gaffer yesterday he said everything was moving along fine and we should hear something over the weekend.”

Connor says he will speak to manager Mick McCarthy about trialists Dean Gerken and Dan Seaborne, but wouldn’t comment on the chances of the duo being offered contracts having trained with the Blues in Ireland and played the second half of the victory over Shelbourne: “That’s not for me to say.

“They’ve been good enough to come across to Ireland and they’ve worked all week at our training camp and they’ve done ever so well for themselves as individuals, they’ve played their game today. We’ll report back to the gaffer on Monday and we’ll take it from there.”

He says they could be involved in Wednesday’s friendly at Crawley: “Depending on the conversation we have with the gaffer, depending on the conversation he has with the players as individuals, hopefully we’ll see them on Wednesday.”

Regarding striker Paul Taylor, who was left behind in Suffolk, Connor says the camp came too soon for him as he continues his comeback from his long-term foot injury: “He just wasn’t quite ready for the trip. He’s still trying to get to the point where he can take contact in training.

“The way that we were going to work this week in particular ruled that out really, so it was probably more prudent for him to stay at home and do some more strengthening work with the physios back there.

“Hopefully when we get back he’ll be another week further on and we can start using him more in the group.”

Keep JET and just buy Anderson if he's good enough for the club.

I agree jimmys law, but having said they want to keep him, what price would they want?

what's the point of triallimg players and arranging games if MM can't even be there?

Walberswick : TC said earlier today that MM was at a charity do today. It was a long standing appointment that couldn't be changed.

Let's hope the deal happens. While Emmanuel-Thomas has undoubted skill, he shows it too infrequently and McCarthy has decided to let him move on so I'd back that judgement.

With under a month to go to the start of the season, it is disappointing that Taylor is not ready for contact in training. I hope his return doesn't get delayed like Civelli's did!

Jay is one of those players who isn't bothered, thats why himself and chopra are on their way out of this club, they think they are bigger than it and Jewell might have allowed it but MMC sees through it

Shame about Taylor but its better not to rush him back. As for JET and Anderson, I'm not really sure what to make of it, I think the majority of us haven't seen Anderson enough to make a proper judgement.

It's pretty obvious that JET is going to leave. So, regardless of individual opinions on him (I personally like him), it's probably time to draw a line and move on. Sadly, we clearly need to off-load his and Chopra's wages and sadly, that's just the way it is.

Like the way MM and TC handle the injured players like Taylor. No doubt Paul would have been chomping at the bit to be involved but if Mick's not happy - it doesn't happen. Really like the way MM works.

Yep lets draw a line under JET's Town career. Bottom line is he cost around £1.5M - Venger pulled PJ's pants down on tht one. He is no doubt on a kings ransom of a salary, he has played well in about 5 games max & showed the odd flash of brlliance that makes you think there is a player there somewhere. However, just hasn't done it for me & if we ever want to get back to being a side pushing for promotion, there can be no passengers!

P.S: If we get the real Paul Anderson that played for Forest, it will be a cracking deal & JET will soon be forgotten.
