Town Close to Completing Veseli Deal
Thursday, 18th Jul 2013 14:00

TWTD understands that Town are close to completing the signing of former Manchester City and Manchester United defender Frederic Veseli. We understand terms have been agreed with the free agent and that the 20-year-old is set to undergo a medical this afternoon with the deal likely to be confirmed later today.

Veseli, who plays at right-back, centre-half and in midfield, joined up with the Town squad at their training camp in Ireland where he impressed manager Mick McCarthy.

After briefly being sidelined by a hamstring injury he was back with the squad again at the weekend and played for 45 minutes at right-back in Tuesday’s friendly at Gillingham.

A Swiss international at U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels, Veseli joined the Red Devils from rivals Manchester City in January 2012.

He was previously a youth player with hometown club FC Renens and FC Lausanne-Sport. He is yet to make a senior appearance for any of his clubs.

Meanwhile, former trialist Dan Seaborne is set to join Yeovil on a two-year deal, according to reports.

The ex-Southampton man played in Town's friendlies at Shelbourne and Crawley but moved on to Huish Park earlier in the week and was in action for the Glovers in a friendly against Torquay on Tuesday.

Speaking after the Gillingham game, manager McCarthy said: “He had other options as well, so that’s just the way it is. Not all of them work out.”

Thanks Marcus (taking more of an active role) and the two blokes who took over from whatshisname from the olympics. Love the efficiency, silence and non-drama from the top.

Really won't be losing any sleep over Seaborne.

However, this Veseli sounds like a decent player and really good news that he wants to sign for us (according to his agent!).

EADT are reporting the deal won't be done today though.

He hasn't actually signed yet you morons, why not just wait until the club announces it officially......

No he hasn't blue moon, fair enough point. But is it really necessary to start calling everyone "morons"? Seems a bit OTT.

Sounds like he shows good promise. But remember he hasn't played a single senior competitive game for any of his clubs. I don't want to jinx anything, but competitive fixtures with actual league points riding on them are very different to the games he's been playing in. Hope he can step up, assuming he signs

I also assume he will be our new 1st-choice right-back, which may put to bed any Stearman interest?

Yes I think so LonleyBlue, most of the Muppets that leave comments on this site don't attend Home or Away games any more yet they have there say on LINKS and Rumours everyday there pathetic, buy a season ticket go to games then you can have an opinion...

It's not compulsory to have a season ticket if you support a team you know, blue_moon09.

Blue_moon009

You, my friend, are a tool.

You think you have the right to call other posters morons?

Do we honestly have to buy a season ticket to have an opinion? I go to about 5 or 6 games a season due to looking after my little girl (which is more important than football) so do I not have an opinion? This thread isn't related to a rumour. Phil has said terms are agreed and a medical is being done. Think that is more than a rumour.

Oh Dear! Looks like we are adding quality to our side. What will Mr. Allen make of that?

PS I make this comment will the full satisfaction that I have a season ticket and can offer my opinions with impunity (Blue_Moon009 you may need your mum to look that word up for you). I also realise that I am privileged in that I both can afford a ticket and have time available to attend matches. I do not begrudge (that's another long word to look up, Blue Moon) anyone else from being able to post an opinion, even if it differs from mine, just because they are unable to attend every match for whatever their reason.

PPS Blue-Moon 009 the word you are looking for is "they're" not 'there'. And you call others muppets!

blue_moon09. For a Norwich fan you seem to spend an awful lot of your time commenting on this site. I can understand your desire to support a club with more than a milk cup victory to its name, but beware of jealousy, it's a green-eyed monster.

PS Please look up "their" in the dictionary. You might learn something.

Looks like a pretty versatile player and obviously coming from the stock of the 2 Manchester clubs has to be considered a good signing! (If it happens).
