N'Daw Linked With Championship Duo
Monday, 22nd Jul 2013 09:58

Millwall and Blackpool are reported to be interested in signing former Blues loanee Guirane N’Daw. The 29-year-old midfielder spent 2012/13 on loan at Town and is a free agent with his contract at parent club St Etienne up at the end of June.

Speaking a month ago at the start of pre-season training, boss Mick McCarthy hadn’t entirely ruled out the Senegal international returning to Portman Road: “I spoke to his agent and we’ll just wait and see.

“We’ve got Anthony Wordsworth, we’ve got Luke Hyam, we’ve got Cole Skuse and Tabby can play in there, although he played wide for us and was exceptional, I thought.

“We’ll wait and see what my budget allows me to do. There’s a budget that I can get certain players in and I want to get them in and make sure I get the right squad together.”

I would imagine it all hinges on his Court appearance as to what happens?

He could pick out some great passes which would lead to goals, but I would much rather stick with the four central midfielders we have. We certainly don't need another defensive minded midfielder anyway. Good luck to him though.

I thought he was generally excellent. looked slow and clumsy but he wasnt ! if that makes sense.

worked hard and broke up play very well. Some forward passes were excellent , some not, which are probably the ones fans remember . Would have liked him to stay .

Cannot be anything but delighted with Merlins dealings in this window,he seems to have the knack of bringing in the players he fancies at a price we can afford and only on terms that suit. I am sure he would have taken Khumalo but not with a callback clause. He seems to have made an offer to Titus but not give in to excess wage demands. I think he would wecome N'Daw back but only if the price is right for Town.

I think our season turned for the better when he was brought into the side so he deserves credit for that, but i don't think we really need him this season with the 4 central midfielders we have now.

Even though he did a job, it was without panache or any kind of certainty.

He's a poor Championship player.

Mag to grid.......

he did go a bit off the boil after his domestic but thats understandable with a court case hanging over him

if millwall and blackpool are in the running then it cant be a wages problem as they are not known as big payers . Maybe mick has moved on now, and didnt want to risk waiting till after the court case. Shame really as he shows real grit and determination = mc carthy player

His ball over the top for Chopra to score v Blackpool was the classiest assist of the season for me. Agree with PimsNumber1, looks clumsy sometimes but has some quality about him too. Would be more than happy to see him back here, was arguably our most important player for a significant spell last season. Does the ugly stuff well.

If we add Conor Henderson to that list, I can't see us going for N'Daw as well.

I would have him back, solid championship player, but perhaps not at the detriment of giving the likes of Hyam a fair crack at the whip!

N'Daws height when we where under pressure late in the game was a big factor in us not conceeding important goals late in games second half of last year. Teams often go long ball in last 10 minutes of matches when needing a goal, for 2 years we leaked goals in late periods, when we had N'Daw sitting in front of Tommy and Chambo we didn't. As much as i like Hyam and Tabb, size can matter.

Spot on Wickets we will definitely miss his presence and height in the middle of the park but I like many others think Mick knows what he is doing .If MM wanted N'Daw I think he would have made more effort to get him.

Much underrated (by fans) last season. Excellent at breaking up opposition attacks, usually in just the right place at the right time, even if his distribution sometimes didn't work. Wouldn't be at all unhappy to see him come back, tho I think it's not very likely.

N'Daw was OK under Jewell as at the time he was a pretty reliable player, but latter games last season he did seem a bit 'hit and hope'. I liked him but I think we have better now!

I'm sure Mick would bag him, if we have the wages available. Hopefully if Chopra goes to Wednesday then he may be offered terms.

I liked N'Daw ... but very similar to Hyam - not sure there was room in the same team for both. Perhaps initially when we needed to grind out away points ... but not so much now.

Please No! Can't understand why everyone wants him back. Yes he works hard and tackles but he is so slow and can not pass! one of reasons why we didn't score enough goals was there was no service to strikers, the odd lucky huff ball lead to a few goals. We need another Jim Magilton, who can run the show, hopefully Wordsworth can step up.

Agree with Hampstead Blue & Bobby Petta, I thought he was generally rubbish and would be dismayed & surprised if McCarthy wanted him back. He just about did a job for MM when we could get in no better. But a footballer he ain't - just a big battler. We need a new Magic if we are going to achieve promotion. We also need a top quality goal scorer if Chopra does go (which is odds on)
