Chopra Undergoes Medical
Wednesday, 24th Jul 2013 21:54

Striker Michael Chopra has revealed that he completed a medical this afternoon with Blackpool the club involved. Yesterday, boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that the 29-year-old was in talks with another club after he was absent from the squad at Colchester.

Chopra tweeted: “Long day today just finished medical. Four and a half hours is a long time to be in a scanner.”

Blackpool emerged as contenders to sign the former England U21 international earlier today with rumours that he was with the Tangerines circulating throughout the afternoon. Confirmation of the switch seems likely to come on Thursday.

Chopra has added a number eight to his Twitter name, one of several shirts currently vacant at Bloomfield Road.

The striker, previously linked with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, appears certain to be moving on a free transfer with the Blues settling the remaining year of his contract.

Blackpool are also expected to add Bristol City frontman Steven Davies, a Blues target last summer while he was at Derby, to their squad.

Please can we all remember to boo him when Blackpool are at Portman Road, just to give him that bit of extra motivation he'll need to score against us.

Good luck Michael! Sorry it didn't work out for you here. No point in being bitter, just one of those things! Maybe a fresh start would do him good!

Onwards and upwards! COYB!

SouperJim - I think standing ovations would confuse him more, therefore making it easier for us to beat Blackpool on our way to the Prem! ;-)

I know no one likes him but as an alternate view....

A bit odd if we are paying him off and a free transfer what's really in it for us. Yes he's disruptive isnt that mainly to the fans. Even if we got 3-4 extra points than if he wasnt here surely it's worth it?

So hopefully just to sign that deal then. I've got plenty of pens he can borrow.

I will never forgive him for the way he has taken advantage of our club, however I wish him luck with his new club and hope he may have learned a lesson. Hopefully he will score plenty of goals against our rivals if nothing else.

Shame any settlement had to be made, hope it wasn't anywhere near 100%. For a free agent Blackpool have got a potential have decent player.

I won't lie by saying I'm sad he's going, it hasn't worked out and I think overall he's been a huge dissapointment off the field which has overshadowed his flashes of half decent play on it.

So desperate we are to get rid of him we settle his contract. Amazes me how footballers/managers can be hopeless at their job and still get paid off thousands of pounds and walk into another job. Finally shot of the last @*%* at the club, finally we can have a TEAM to be proud of!

So glad to see the back of Chopra. He took the mickey, took the money and took off. Good riddance - I don't even want to think about him returning in another kit. He's being deleted from my memory banks.

For me - a very positive news feed for us to celebrate. Another link to the awful poisonous K*ane era.... The less High waged - Low performance, back chatting Pre-Madonna's still at this club, the better.... Joins a long line of under performing dross driven by poor managers and clueless tacticians of the past.

Why would I wish good luck to an individual whom has blatantly abused his profile and rubbed our faces in his over rated fortunes throughout his tenure at a club, which clearly means nothing to him, but everything to the people whom pay more than they can afford to maintain their relationship through thick and thin.

A shrewd manoeuvre from someone whom has respective morals to the fans and heritage of a club. Good decision to shed this Miss-hap MM. Thanks.

I'm weary of the hate campaign against Chopra. He isn't the brightest fairy light on the Christmas tree and he has wound up fans with some pretty daft comments, but on the pitch he gives it his all. If he hasn't scored the number of goals we had hoped to get from him, it's because he has often been played as a lone striker, a role that doesn't suit him. My worry is that Paul Ince will know how to get the best out of him and he'll rattle in a couple against us.

Bluemikey100 - Since when was Chopra a 20-goal a season man for ITFC?

Great news. Everyone banging on about a ''20 goal a season striker'. He's been here 2 seasons and he hasn't even scored 20!! Good riddance.

No32 what the '#?/ is a Pre-Madonna, I know what a prima donna is but this beats it all-I despair of some of the comments posted here.

Excellent news if true, I just want a line drawn under the whole sorry Chopra affair so we can move on.

The question can then move onto, do we need a new striker? I'm delighted with McGoldrick and Murphy in pre-season, but disappointed Nouble didn't score. With Taylor coming back from injury at Colchester, perhaps we do have enough options.

I'm not sorry to see him go, I never thought he put all his efforts in to any games he played for us. We have a team now that are motivated by playing and not money, as can be seen by the likes of Berra and Vesseli. This team will work it's socks off for the shirt and each other. Chops never did that....once.

Think he will come good, just not here he needs a fresh start. In the right team he will score goals. I think it's Keanes fault his career has just not happened here. If he hadn't been played up front on his own the fans wouldn't of got on his back and he MIGHT have done better. Although his off field issues didn't help his cause.

I don't see why we should pay him off though, surely the 250k loan from before should be enough. Or is he going to pay us that back?

Minesapint, I couldnt agree more with your analysis!! The hate campaign has been nothing short of disgracefull!! He just been stupid enough to retaliate to the mindless idiots on twitter. Scored a fair few goals when clueless jewell played him as a lone striker!!! People may look stupid if he scores against us a la nugent!!! Good luck chops
