Chopra Deal Close to Completion
Thursday, 25th Jul 2013 10:13

The completion of striker Michael Chopra’s move to Blackpool now appears to be a formality with the 29-year-old reported to have put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Bloomfield Road yesterday.

The deal is set to be rubber-stamped once the Seasiders have assessed the results of the medical Chopra revealed he had undergone yesterday.

Town are likely to have agreed a settlement of the final year of the frontman’s contract at Portman Road, believed to be worth £18,000-a-week, with the Tangerines unlikely to be paying anything like that figure.

Chopra is said to be back in Suffolk today but will join up with his new team-mates tomorrow and is likely to make his first appearance at Bloomfield Road in a friendly against his hometown club Newcastle United, where he started his career, on Sunday.

Disappointed he didn't reach his potential? Yep. Upset he's going? No.
Hope he has learnt a lesson and can get over his addictions.

So long and thanks for all the fish...

A fresh start. If (and when) it happens then good luck to him.

Meanwhile we are beginning our own new chapter at PR...onward and upward...

Whenever past players have left the club I have found it easy to wish them a fond farewell and good wishes for their future careers.
I find that hard to do with Chopra.

I was so excited about the signing of Chopra in 2011, unfortunately his reputation has been tarnished via social media such as Twitter as well as a string of poor performances. He hasn't been "all bad" I have to admit! Good luck on your new adventure with Blackpool.

Another thought.. Do we need to sign a striker? Ebanks-Blake possibly destined for the Premier League, but he might just come if persuaded the same way Berra was!

Either way, everything Mick McCarthy seems to be doing is fantastic! So proud to have the BEST MANAGER in the league!

Obviously a lot of hate towards Chops here, but in life things don't always work out the way you want them. I'm pretty sure he didn't want it to pan out this way. He has his demons control, and to be fair I hope he does. I wanted him to bag loads of goals every week, sadly this didn't happen.

Let's not hate him, just the love the strikers we have and hope they shine this year! COYB!!
