Adekunle Signs One-Year Deal
Tuesday, 20th Aug 2013 12:48

Trialist Jordan Adekunle has joined the Blues on a one-year contract. The 18-year-old, who first impressed manager Mick McCarthy while facing Town for Crawley in pre-season, scored in last week’s U21 friendly against an Irish development side and also played in last night’s U21 game against Cardiff City.

Left winger Adekunle was with Charlton as a schoolboy and has played for the England Colleges U19 side.

He was subsequently with Ryman League Division One South club Bognor Regis Town before moving on to Crawley’s youth set-up.

Adekunle told the club site: "I'm delighted to sign for Ipswich. It's a great club and I can see the rich history of the place just by walking through the corridors here.

"The manager has given me a chance here, so I want to do well for the club and I'm just buzzing for the new season here really."

We actually signed a trialist! Remember all those trialists who played under Keane and Jewell, I don't recall us signing any of them.

He hasn't mentioned the training facilities. He's mentioned the history, so that's a start, but he's not quite into my good books yet.

Is he a right or left winger? I reckon MM and TC know what they're doing.

All the sceptics on here are gonna be pretty sick come the end of the season.
Yeah yeah, I know sceptics. . Lost 2 out of 3: BUT!! Only lost by the odd goal on both occasions. . .AND . . . to 2 of the 3 teams that came down with an abundance of parachute wonga. We would've lost those matches by 5 or 6 goals a year ago.

You're all gonna be grimacing when the taste of those sour grapes kick in. COYB!!

Oh, come on, Bury Blue, we signed Cheik Kourouma--eventually. And remember what a storied Town career he had.

He was my MOTM last night, looked courageous, committed and has some technical ability. I can see him making a good name for himself here if he keeps it up. Very pleased with this signing.

Phil's item yesterday confirms he is a winger - by which I assume he plays wide, not that he moans a lot !!

Be helpful to know what position he plays. Hopefully a pacey winger which we massively lack.

for those asking, he played most of his time on the left wing last night. looked strong going forward, chased and harassed the Cardiff fullbacks and generally put a lot of effort in. he created a few opportunities out of nothing and i think, with the guidance of Mick and Terry, he'll be a solid addition to our squad.

Review of ipswich v crawley pre-season friendly from local paper.......

One big plus for Crawley was the performance of substitute Jordan Adekunle, the 18 year old full of pace and running and he nearly scored with a deflected cross which struck the far post towards the end.

He says he's an exciting quick winger, which I'm happy with because we never usually have a lot of pace in our side, especially down the wings! Happy with this, welcome Jordan.

Now onto the Stevanage fella who was playing on the right for them in the league cup. He was very impressive and was a big talking point at half time.

I think the biggest news of this story is we have made another signing after big mick had said he had done his business and is happy!! I believe this is one of maybe 2-3 more signings, mick has always where ever he has worked, worked with a bigger team then he currently has, I don't see him settling for a bare amount as he has.
We will sign more I'm pretty sure of it!! Mick is playing a clever waiting game!!
Mark my words!!!
I'm sure MM also hadn't agreed to spend 20,000 only this summer! Especially as other managers have had loads more cash to splash!
Also in phils post previously joint MD's agreed they would back mick in the transfer window! I don't see £20,000 as backing him!!

Wait people there's more to come!!!

Think the only player to look decent against a decent looking Cardiff side last night for the u21. Welcome Adekunle

Him along with Doherty COULD be bargains for town.
Mick has done such good business this summer, it's so refreshing!

BillBlue - I know, my friend ... but it was worth a shot for the "humour". Hopefully this fast attacking winGer will prove to be worth a shot too and (like Hyam on the other active post) get his short contract extended!

:)

Hopefully he can work hard and earn himself a longer contract like some other youngsters in the squad. Up to him now

Welcome Jordan. He's also played for my other team, Bognor Regis Town of the Ryman Premier. Made an appearance as a 16 yr old about 18 months ago, against Brighton in the Sussex Senior Cup, looked impressive that night. Quite chuffed about this.
