Loach Looking for Another Clean Sheet
Thursday, 22nd Aug 2013 11:00

Goalkeepers love to keep clean sheets and Town number one Scott Loach will be looking for his second in two home games this season when Leeds visit Portman Road at the weekend.

Last season’s corresponding fixture proved a significant turning point for Loach as it saw him regain his first team place from on-loan West Ham keeper Stephen Henderson.

Town triumphed 3-0 and Loach eventually achieved a run of five clean sheets in six appearances as he retained his place through to the end of the season.

He said: “Hendo was in goal and I didn’t spit my dummy out. I helped him by training hard, working hard and pushing him. I kept saying to the gaffer that I was ready and I think I proved it when I got in.

“It will be a similar case with Dean [Gerken]. He is pushing me but on the flip side, because he is doing that, it is keeping me on my toes and keeping my concentration going.

"I want to keep it going. I don’t want to be known for playing 10 games here and there. I want to play the full season.

“I’m not taking my number one spot for granted one bit. I will keep working 100 per cent every day to make sure I am playing. I do want to be Ipswich’s number one, not just for this season but for many years to come.

“I feel like I can do it and I feel I belong here. I want to be a part of the success at the club but Dean has been around for a while and he pushes me all the way.

“He works me hard but he also talks to me and encourages me. I’ll do the same for him if he gets his chance. My main focus at the minute is to keep concentrating on my performances and to keep the number one spot.”

I feel that whatever the opinions on how well this side do this year we have assembled a bunch of players whos hearts and minds are in the right place and they really want to play for the club not just the money and there isn't many of them players left in the game.

I love Scott loach. I don't think he is the best keeper in the league but his passion for the club for me, goes without saying. Players who want to wear the blue shirt (or Green in his case).

I think it will only bode well for us to have a squad of players who want to play, just buying quality isn't going to always be the answer!

Coyb, massive 3 points needed this weekend!

if he doesn't dominate both his 6 yard box and communication with his team mates he will be under pressure to be replaced. Nothing better than if you have 1 goalkeeper for a season but he needs to add the above aspects to his game in terms of improvement.
