Boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that former Blue Titus Bramble is currently undergoing treatment on a knee injury at Portman Road. The 32-year-old, who was released by Sunderland at the end of last season, played in Town’s pre-season friendlies at Gillingham and Barnet but after fellow centre-half Christophe Berra signed wasn’t offered terms.

However, the Ipswich-born academy product continued training with the Blues squad until he was recently sidelined with injury.

“He’s been having treatment here, he hurt his knee a couple of weeks ago,” McCarthy said. “He’s been good to the club and is a local lad, so we’re looking after him.”

Might the possibility of him rejoining the Blues be revived? “Not while he’s having treatment for a knee injury!” McCarthy joked.

“No, as far as I was concerned he was going to Turkey. I brought him in, we had a look at him, I discussed it with him and he was always going to go there.

"However, he’s hurt his knee, so he’s not going anywhere. But, he’s a free agent who can sign whenever he likes, so it’s up to him.”

Popeye added 11:28 - Aug 30 Were looking after him because over the years he has put his hand in his pocket and sponsored games/youth teams, and it wouldn't surprise me if he is one of many including Keiron Dyer who will probably invest something into the academy so the least we could do is give him some free physio surely?
