Crowe Signs Deal
Thursday, 5th Sep 2013 18:18

Academy second-year scholar Michael Crowe has signed a two-year professional contract at Town with an option for a further season. The 17-year-old was on the senior bench for the first time in a competitive fixture at QPR recently.

Crowe told the club site: “Obviously I’m delighted to have been offered a pro deal. This is a great football club and I feel I am learning all the time and making progress.

“I am training every day with Scott [Loach] and Dean [Gerken] and that is helping my development, and I’ve got a fantastic coach in Malcolm Webster as well.

“I’ve been around the first team this season and if I can put pressure on the two keepers then great, but my main focus at the moment is to be as good as I can be and play as much as I can for the U21s.”

London-born Crowe, whose father is English and mother Norwegian, joined the Blues last summer from Kristiansand side IK Start having been brought up in Norway.

He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother and was called into their U19 squad by ex-Blue Geraint Williams towards the end of last season.

Speaking about Crowe during pre-season, fellow keeper Scott Loach said: “He’s a great lad, I can’t speak highly enough of him and he’s got a great future ahead of him if he knuckles down and works.”

Would rather him be a regular for U19s so we can give the sub goaly at the time a game every week, hope he will be the first team goaly in years to come :)

Congratulations Michael and good luck. It's great to see us getting serious about developing our own talent.

Only seen him play once for the U21's, but he was very impressive. Made one excellent save. He could be our 'keeper for years to come.

he's a great goalie but he needs games and experience, not sitting on benches

I'd like to see us getting our young players out on loan. The sooner they get first team football experience and know the demands then the sooner they'll develop and be ready to step up and play for us.

He looks like a great prospect - good positioning, body language and hands. Kicking needs a wee bit of work (he reminded me horribly of Andy Marshall in the pre-season at Chippenham). But. How many Town players ever turned out for a fans' team? He played for Norwegian Town fans recently in the Oslo Cup in pre-season!!!!!

Keanish: We could always give Cleggy a ring and see if he's got some paint left over from painting the turnstiles ??

Watched this guy in training at the open day, he was very very good. Hope this is a taste of things to come from him.
