Carson Completes York Switch
Thursday, 12th Sep 2013 11:53

Ex-Blues midfielder Josh Carson has completed his move to his former loan side York City. The 20-year-old, whose Town contract was terminated by mutual consent last week, has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Nigel Worthington, the manager of the League Two club, said: "Josh has got experience at Championship level and is a young international player.

“He came in last year when we were having a tough time at the club and I felt he did very well and worked very hard for the team prior to the injury when he had to go back to Ipswich.

“So, when there was an opportunity there to pick him up until the end of the season, I was very keen to try and get him and I'm delighted that we’ve managed to acquire his services".

Carson, who was given his first full Northern Ireland caps by Worthington during his time as national coach, made five appearances for York last season before his spell was curtailed by a foot injury.

Meanwhile, academy second-year scholar Cemal Ramadan came on as a 71st-minute sub as the Republic of Ireland U17s lost 1-0 to Slovakia in the second of their two friendlies in Bratislava this morning.

Ramadan was a starter in the first game on Tuesday, which ended 3-0 to the home side.
