New boy Paul Anderson says he and his Town team-mates are determined to build on Saturday’s home win over Middlesbrough when newly-promoted Yeovil visit Portman Road this evening.

But Anderson, signed from Bristol City in a swap deal that took Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in the opposite direction, warned against underestimating the men from South Somerset.

He said: “Yeovil are a very good side. From what we’ve seen of them they’ve actually played some good stuff and, similar to us, they have been a little bit unfortunate with the results they’ve got.

“We believe we can beat everyone in the league and I think we’ve proved that against Reading and QPR. They are probably two of the top teams and we should have got more than what we did from two fairly even games.

“We know we’re good enough but Yeovil will be thinking exactly the same. We just have to focus on ourselves and hopefully we can get the results that our performances deserve.”

The 25-year-old winger, who started with Hull and also had spells at both Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, echoed the view of boss Mick McCarthy and several of his new colleagues that prior to the Boro victory results had not been in tandem with the team’s displays.

He added: “We had two defeats in a row to QPR and Leeds, which always puts pressure on you, but to be honest we’ve actually played quite well. Individual mistakes have maybe cost us a couple of goals.

“It was a great performance at Birmingham but we didn’t get the result we probably deserved and then to get three points on Saturday against Middlesbrough was fantastic for us.

“We didn’t feel any pressure going into the Boro game because we’ve got the full confidence within the squad and from the staff.

“But when you’re not getting the points and you see your name nearer the bottom of the table than the top, you are thinking ‘We need to get the points on the board’.

“Fortunately we did that and hopefully we can go on from there against Yeovil and have another good performance and get the points that we need.”
