Taylor Impresses for Posh
Taylor Impresses for Posh
Saturday, 5th Oct 2013 23:44

On-loan Town striker Paul Taylor was named the sponsor’s man of the match as Peterborough United beat Preston 2-0 at London Road. The 25-year-old, who is back with Posh until November 2nd, played the first 78 minutes.

Former Town loanee Tyrone Barnett scored the first goal in the ninth minute and Grant McCann added the second on 29.

Taylor was one of the players manager Darren Ferguson singled out for praise: “Jack Payne was excellent again and I would pay to watch Paul Taylor.

"He’s a fantastic footballer and it’s a shame he didn’t score today as he deserved a goal.”

Peterborough are next in action on Tuesday when they take on Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at London Road.

..... not a bit surprised at these comments about Taylor - his talent and flair is obvious to anyone who knows what they are looking at.

He should be playing for IPSWICH - absurd that he is not.

Why isn't he playing for us? Its taken him 2 starts to turn in a MOM performance. He could have had 2 starts with us. He should be starting ahead of Anderson, who although scoring today, I was told was poor.

As posted earlier, how we reintegrate Taylor and make him a success at Ipswich is a massive test for Mick and Terry.

We've all seen how good Taylor is.

don't see why everybody's complaining, it's a perfect situation, by the time he's back he should hit the ground running

We are letting someone else get him fit and give him confidence at a lower level of football.

Anyone who has a problem with that is absurd!

The reason he has been shipped out on loan is purely personal in my eyes. Yes he was out for a long time but its clear mick has some sort of problemwith him as he could have given him more game time here. He is the one person in our squad who could produce that bit of magic out of nothing. For some reason mccarthy just doesent rate him, take mings for example, he was out simce first game of the season, yea not as long as taylor was out for, but he was brought on yesterday when we were happy to play for a draw against weds!!! Yet he didnt give taylor game time to build up fitness. Said it all for me, hope taylor returns all guns blazing

It's a win- win suitation. He does well, he can return to us fit and ready. If he doesnt he can continue to play there until he is ready. I believe that the gaffer must have said, prove your worth.

I'm surprised some if our fans are so privy to what goes on in the dressing room and at training between Taylor and McCarthy. I wonder how else they can base there suppositions that MM has a issue with Taylor. He was the player MM turned to for 20+ mins away at WAFC and he looked good in part but he can't play 90mins after such along injury without playing regular first team football. At Peterborough he is, even not match fit, one of their best players, when he returns in November match fit he will be one of our best players too!

So much with MM is about attitude and character. He shipped out Jet and Chopra not because of ability. Taylor has a bad record already here. Maybe there is much more to this. A bad apple is not what we need. No matter how talented.

Like the rest of you I have not seen Taylor play much in a town shirt but I think Taylor is very attack minded and can neglect his defensive duty and that's exaggerated by not being match fit, so if mm has a problem with him that will be where it is.

It's important that he gets some playing time, I think he can prove that he can get back to what he was and then to come back to us and be the player that we signed for so much money and had such great hopes for. Well done Paul.

There's a fine balance when it comes to man management and unfortunately I don't thing MM is tipping the the balance the right way. If a player has talent and is showing a bad attitude ,probably an arm round the shoulder and a word of encouragement rather than shipping them off on loan or sticking them in the stiffs might just work. Ok, this might not work for every player but its a start. MM should also change his attitude to being happy with a point when we should be looking for three, especially against teams like SW.

sereneblue - Taylor is NOT FIT so getting a few games at lower level. How can MM be criticised for that? When he returns he will probably feature in out first team. People who keep knocking MM make me laugh. We got two away draws this week and are a mid table side for gods sake. Let MM build the team up gradually. I think you forget his record since coming to ITFC. I may even work it out and post it to stop people keep moaning the whole goddam time!!!

He is a midget with a bad attitude a total waste of money cant believe we spent 1.5mil on him,Yes he has quick feet and runs at defences problem is he cant see a pass and is selfish. if he was a goalscorer then maybe that would be ok ,but he cant shoot to save his life he cant even hit the target in the pre match warmups, pathetic player

Neglect his defensive duties? haven't we already got enough midfield players who are already defensive minded? - will be interesting to see if he does come back at the beginning of November or we extend his loan.

Kirbmeister,
Some of us obviously have higher standards than others and look to high places than mid table. Try looking at the comments more as constructive criticism than having ago. In my opinion if you what premiership football you have to win most of your away games. If MM is not willing to at least beat bottom table sides then Ipswich will maintain there record for being the longest serving championship side. I look forward to you working out MM record since taking over at our club, however I tend to look forward rather than back, far to many of our fans still thrive on past glories.

Michael99 think his 30 yard free kick during pre season kinda proves your poin irrelevant!!! He can certainly shoot, more to the point he can engineer something out of nothing. His attitude may be questionable but he still a more than capable player at this level

....... to all you saying that it's a good thing for Taylor to be at Peterborough - and 'will hit the ground running' when he comes back - let's see if he comes back first shall we .... !!!

MM has already said he's coming back straight after his loan spell.

The sligtest sign of criticism of the great MM and out come the negative tickers. Amazes me how many of you people have not got a single thought of your own!

really cant believe some peoples ridiculous comments on this. hes gone out to get fit. the reason he getting fit at posh rather than here is perfectly clear. we now have a 2 week break for internationals whereas posh will be still be playing thus he gets more games in the next fortnight. clearly better than having played 2 matches for us then having a break, thus setting him back again in his race to get fit to be in the team here. jimmy86, ur 2nd post regarding the freekick at notts county is spot on. however ur 1st post regarding the fact that mings was brought on yesterday and the fact he not been in team, and comparing that to taylors situation is totally flawed. mings has missed about 9 matches, taylor, the best part of a season. theres quite some difference in the fitness needed to be regained in those situations, mings had a full preseason for a start, taylors was very truncated with him being nursed back in.as for the suggestion its personal? ridiculous.

Jimmy86 added 18:22 - Oct 6
Blues1 reason i suggested it was personal is because MM didnt seem interested in giving taylor game time for him to improve his fitness. In my first post i also mentioned the fact mings hadnt been out anywhere near as long as taylor, there just seemed to be a problem with regards to giving him more game time and to me thats why it looked personal, we will see whether he comes back or not

it amazes me some are so confused why Paul Taylor is out on loan.. Spot on 'blues1' I dont expect him to come back as Superman, but for me I hope he will be playing week-in week-out
