McCarthy Impressed With Taylor
McCarthy Impressed With Taylor

Boss Mick McCarthy says striker Paul Taylor is looking fitter and sharper having spent a month on loan at his old club Peterborough United. The 26-year-old, who suffered a foot injury which kept him sidelined for 11 months soon after moving from London Road to Town in August last year, has two more games before his spell back with Posh is at an end.

McCarthy took a trip to Cambridgeshire to watch the League One side draw 0-0 with Sheffield United on Tuesday and was pleased with what he saw.

“He looked much fitter and sharper,” he said. “He looked like he’d got that pace to run beyond people, up the sides of people.

“He’s had six games, not played them all fully but after 70 minutes he was chasing back and winning tackles the other night, which he couldn’t have done before he went there. He’s much better.”

McCarthy says that Taylor will be back at Portman Road after Posh’s trip to Colchester on Saturday and their home game against Leyton Orient — who are ahead of them at the top of League One on goal difference — the following week: “That’s the plan and that’s what I intend doing. We’ll see what happens, but that’s my intention.”

Great news I'd love to see McGoldrick and Taylor start every game for town. I know there's probably a lot of sceptics of Taylor but he's been brilliant from the little I've seen of him. His dribbling skills are great as his his creative eye for the pass he just needs to be a little more prolific.

We can send Nouble out on loan to a league 2 club for regular first team experience which I think will do him the world of good.

Great idea Berra4balloons. Maybe Nouble could partner JET at Bristol City. That'd be interesting!!

Funny how fans see things and how the manager see things.

The Posh fans said he brought very little to the Peterborough side and wont be missed when he returns.

Must be why they are fans and not the manager then

Why does MM need to see what happens if his intentions are to bring him back ? Surely he is our player so he will come back if wanted .
Karlos ... has Taylor not got 2 man of the match awards and some assists in his time at the Posh ? In a spell where we have won 1 game in 5 , least he's fitter though !!

Why would he be sold bluefeast?
Milne and Symonds have already said there's cash to spend in Jan.

He never scores and flatters to deceive. His most aggressive action was in the Robert Ransome. . MM has him sussed and will offload asap

I live and work in Peterborough and know a lot of Posh fans and chat football with them.
They were saying that he would not get in the Ipswich team after his display against Sheffield Utd, hence my comment above, they also said that apart from is world class turn and shot against the post against Preston all he did was moan at the ref as it was not going his way, and that he has not brought anything to the Peterborough side.
I have not seen him play so I am only say what they have said, yet most Ipswich fans seem to think he is going to turn us in to the best team in that league.

But you are right at least he will be fitter, I just think he will be trouble for the club and not really do anything, do hope I am wrong.

I just think he's the option between midfield and attack that we've lacked for a VERY long time. I can't remember the last player we had who can run at people and cause defences a headache. If we can get him fit and confident then hopefully he'll be a key player for us.

Not convined, hasn't scored for in form team Peterborough in a division lower. Strikes me as another Lee Martin, lots of running no end product, not a team player.
Paul prove me wrong!

Offers something different.

Well managed, he will cause problems for the opponent (rather than to ourselves), and other players can capitalize on that.

Taylor has only now recovered from a terrible injury, so l really hope MM and the fans give him a fair chance when he comes back in November. He seems to be a player who will perform well if the crowd gets behind him.

Personally, I fancy him partnering McGoldrick up front. He has got to be better than Nouble!
