We Could Be in the Top Six Saturday, 23rd Nov 2013 06:01 Town boss Mick McCarthy believes that the Blues could be in the top six given the level of their performances this season. He feels that all too often decent displays haven’t been turned into points. Town dominated the games at Birmingham, where they drew 1-1, and Wigan, where they lost 2-0, and were 4-1 up at Derby before drawing 4-4. In other matches, such as the 2-1 home defeat to Leeds and the recent 1-1 draw with Barnsley at Portman Road, the Blues have had spells on top when they might have added to leads before the opposition came more into the game. “I’m not content with what we've got. I think with the way we’ve played, we could have nicked into the top six,” he said. “And by the way, everyone else is probably saying the same thing. “I know that, but I genuinely believe it. It’s not me sitting here trying to big my team up because I don’t do that and I don’t wear rose-tinted glasses. “I just look at it and think of the games that we’ve played — we should have more points. And we haven’t really nicked anything because in the second half at Blackpool we deserved to win, we were the better team. “OK, Gerks made a good save at 1-0, if it went to 2-0 it was a different game, but that’s what he’s there for. In my view we haven’t nicked a point, the points that we’ve got we’ve earned them."
