Nugent: I Wish I Could Play Here Every Week
Monday, 25th Nov 2013 06:00

Leicester striker David Nugent admitted that he’d love to play at Town every week after netting twice in his side’s 2-1 victory over the Blues on Saturday, taking his remarkable personal records to 13 goals in 12 games against Town and nine in seven matches at Portman Road.

“I don’t know what it is about this part of the country but I always seem to score here, and against Norwich too,” the 28-year-old former England striker said.

“I had a bit of banter with the fans and they gave me a few jeers when I had a shot and it went for a throw-in but that just geed me on and I had the last word.

“I was pleased with both my goals, especially the first. Lloyd [Dyer] has done really well and the ball has come back to me and I have smashed it into the corner of the net.

“With the second, Lloyd has gone round the keeper and pulled it across and I was able to put it away. I wish I could play here every week.”

Nugent, who both Jim Magilton and Paul Jewell tried to give the opportunity to play more regularly at Portman Road, felt manager Nigel Pearson’s half-time double substitution was key to the victory.

“The gaffer made two subs and to be honest it could have been any one of us," he said. "We played on the counter in the second half and we had a lot of pace which caused mayhem.

“Ipswich started really well and could have had three or four goals but we showed the quality we needed and I’m really happy with that.”

But he's good and clowns, no doubt some of whom come on here, spur him on - as most of us have been saying for years!

I hate him, but would happily take him in January if he wants to come here.

Sign him up if we can because we need either him or Billy Sharp. McGoldrick cannot do it all and one day he will pick up an injury.
Nugent is a cut above at Championsip level. If he wants to be with us then yes please.

Remember Ian Marshall? It was the same with him. He scored
against us all the time for Oldham. Eventually we signed him and he scored a few against them

....... we definitely need someone like Nugent - before McGoldrick gets totally fed up with ploughing the lone furrow. Now that is a worry, and potentially a very serious problem !!!

And the idiots who continuously give Nugent stick - only make him more determined against us.

HOW STUPID IS THAT ??

You could have played here every week David, you could. If only you hadn't frustrated Jim Magilton to the point that he thought it better that you "sod off". if only, hey, if only.

How we could do with someone of his quality.

The man is class and I would welcome him to PR with no hesitation. As for our idiots who hate him, he does not fall over when breathed on like Holt. He scores his goals in an honest way and no one can fault him for that.
