U21s Win First Game of the Season
Tuesday, 26th Nov 2013 14:51

Town’s U21s came from behind to grab their first win of the season as they beat 10-man Brentford 4-1 at their Jersey Road training ground this afternoon. Alan Lee, Jordan Adekunle, Matt Clarke and Anthony Wordsworth were on the scoresheet.

Alfie Mawson put the home side in front in the 20th minute, but Blues veteran Alan Lee evened things up on 75 from close range.

The Bees were reduced to 10 men when George Pilbeam was sent off for picking up two yellow cards, the second for a lunge on keeper Scott Loach.

Sub Adekunle netted Town’s second in the 81st minute and then Clarke added the third with four minutes left and Wordsworth the fourth on 89.

The Blues included trialist Eoin Wearen at the centre of the defence, the 21-year-old ex-West Ham man having played the last three Professional Development League South game.

U21s: Loach, Veseli, Sowunmi, Wearen, Hammond, Lawrence, Wordsworth, Hunt, Doherty (M Clarke 46), Timlin (Berkane 72), Lee (Adekunle 75). Subs: Marsden, Bishop.

good to finally win...got to ask why it is that we're finding it so hard to win there though. On another note good to see Wordsworth scoring twice...he hasnt gone on loan yet - MM seen something in the last few weeks which is making him think twice?

Phil, shouldn't that headline read "win their first game this season" rather than "of the season" the latter if it were true would be a much better situation to be in.

Story amended, Clarke scored third not Wordsworth.

Perhaps we have been putting out a too inexperienced side, should think Sparky is pleased to get first win as well;this without Marriott or October.Wonder if MM has put out this strong side as he is considering changes on Saturday?Hope so.

Alan Lee should count as two players. He's at least 42.

oh no.. How low have we gone? Portman Road just scored 'POINTLESS' on the subject of premier and championship grounds .. Even the yellow and green ground up the road scored some! Shocking! :)

....... when are we going to unleash Alan Lee, the new found star, in the 1st Team ?
At least he still knows where the goal is - more than can be said for some currently in the framework.
