Bramble Still Training With Town
Saturday, 30th Nov 2013 06:01

Former Blue Titus Bramble is still training at Playford Road as he continues his rehabilitation from a cartilage operation, and manager Mick McCarthy doesn’t entirely rule out the 32-year-old rejoining his hometown club.

Bramble, who was released by Sunderland at the end of last season, came back to Town on trial in the summer but after Christophe Berra joined the Blues was expected to join a club in Turkey until a knee injury scuppered that proposed deal.

“His situation is that he’s still rehabbing from his cartilage operation,” McCarthy said on Thursday. “He trained today with [Mark Kennedy’s development squad].

“He’s just training and until he’s fit he’s not going to make any decisions, I’ve had that discussion with him.

“He wants to get himself fit. And, of course, he can go anywhere. It doesn’t matter [about transfer windows], he’s a free agent, so he can do what he wants.”

Might a return to Town be something he’ll look at once Bramble is fully fit? “It’s down to Titus. It’s down to what he and his agent will want to do, not what I want to do.”

Don''t you just love this and our building for the future. Our young prospects out on loan other clubs young prospects in our squad, a home for journeymen, our best player being offered up for sale and little prospect of any funds to spend.
Not looking forward to 1 in 7 today either, what a mess!

Good words Pip50. Totally agree. Our youth players must love hearing this news. Bramble at best was only an average player and his best contribution to Ipswich was the 6 million we got for him. Look forward Town ,not back.

You look at the teams that do well - they have big squads, usually. However, with players like Alan Lee & Bramble, Hunt coming in, this makes training that bit more competitive - a good thing surely? Doesn't say how far Titus is off being match fit. A contract from Jan (if fit) to end of season could only benefit both player & club. We only need an injury and a few yellow or red cards, and we are short.

If our youth players are training with and learning from the likes of Bramble, that is good. We need to realise that the future is now. If these younger players are good enough, they'd be in the team. If our Academy have the likes of Lee, Dyer & Bramble knocking about - all good players for us who all love the club - what a great opportunity for our young charges.

Wouldn't get a look in unless there are injuries at centre back. MM would never drop Berra and probably not Smith or Chambers either.
Thought we have missed N'Daw this season and think he could do a good job sitting in front of back four, occasionally bursting forward as he has done to great effect during career.
Pay as you play?

sign him up but only if we are going to play him as a defensive mid fielder.needs someone behind him for those all to well known documented slip up's.

He might, just might, cause so much chaos up front....he could just be the striker we're looking for bit like Ian Marshall :-)

Pip50 and Sereneblue ............ of course you are both totally right with your comments - what worries me is you score minus's for it. Doesn't it tell you something about our low expectancy supporters ? - sad that.

I am sure Pip50 will be congratulating Town on their fine win today but, having read his previous posts, I somehow doubt it.

As for Bramble, I never really rated him in the Premier League but he could certainly do a good job at this level. I'm sure he'll be looking for more money than Town can offer so I really can't see him signing here.

We have missed N'Daw like a hole in the head

We've missed N'Daw like a hole in the head but are doing better this season than last year. I frankly don't care how we play as long as the points roll in. We've been in this league for years now and every year fans have demanded attractive football. Clearly attractive does not work so, bringing this round to Bramble, if he can do us a job and help us to win ugly then I am all for this!
