Blues in Talks With Leeds Midfielder
Thursday, 30th Jan 2014 11:05

Leeds midfielder Paul Green is reported to be in talks with the Blues regarding a loan move. Republic of Ireland international Green is out of favour at Elland Road and hasn’t played a first team game for the Whites since October.

Green, 30, was previously linked with the Blues during Paul Jewell’s time as boss, the former Town manager having signed him during his spell at Derby.

Pontefract-born Green started his career with Doncaster Rovers, joined Derby on a free transfer in the summer of 2008 and then moved on to Leeds in June 2012, signing a two-year deal. He has been capped 20 times by Ireland, scoring once.

Green, who is 5ft 9in tall, has made 42 starts and four sub appearances during his time with Leeds, scoring four goals, one in last season's 2-0 defeat of the Blues at Elland Road. He suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty in November but returned to training earlier in the month.

Town manager Mick McCarthy is keen to get Anthony Wordsworth out on loan to play games, but with Luke Hyam sidelined with a gashed leg, has said he would be unable to do so unless he brought someone in.

Would much rather have Frimpong or O'hara to be fair. He isn't really any better than what we've got

Anyone know anything about this guy? Not a prolific goals scorer from the stats so lets hope he knows how to create something

Least inspiring link in ITFC history. Failed to establish himself at another club.

This guy is awful.

My friend is a derby fan and has always rated him as one of the worst players he's seen.

No better than what we have, surely we can do better being in a position like we are?

Now whose judgement should we trust Mick McCarthy's or your mate's. Mmm tough one.

A lot of people on twitter all say he can run for days but his passing is very average. No different to Hyam so should just be to bolster the squad

A busy little player but can't say i'm that excited by this deal.

I know the thought mafia on here insist we only say positive things about prospective signings but I have to agree this is a pretty uninspiring signing at best. It is plain to see that we need a decent creative midfielder who can set and up and score chances whereas Green is more of the same....surely Frimpong is a better shout?

Please god no. Seen him play with the Republic. He is poor. Not a creative player. Skip this one please Mick. 1st time doubting MM but for me this is a no no.

I see Ed Upson could be on his way to Burnley for a 100K another good youngster we let go and a midfielder as well we have thrown away so much good talent.

Ed Upson has been one of yovils main players this season I'm sure if we went in for him he'd prefer a move back here that to burnley

popeye. i thought trotter was treated appalingly by the fans while he was here and if i was him i wouldn't be rushing back. good player though and i hope i'm wrong

MM bases his teams on a hard work ethic and it case you haven;t noticed this has worked out pretty nicely for us since he came here. Green would fit perfectly into that ethos. He is also an option wide right if we need him, I can;t see any problems with this deal whatsoever

hardly one to get the pulse racing-would be a typical mick sort of signing tho
mick said the other week something like to play here you need to have a high workrate-and if you can play a bit with the ball thats a bonus.
he gets us decent enough results but that attitude and the style of play are not really very inspiring--nor is this link

In the modern era RESULTS count above style ! That is the problem with the football now as getting results is all that matters because they bring promotion and money ! Style is a non profit making side line which is nice if it can get results but is sacrificed to get the necessary results .
