Marriott's Woking Lose
Tuesday, 11th Feb 2014 22:13

Striker Jack Marriott played the full 90 minutes as his loan club Woking lost 2-0 at Salisbury City this evening.

The 19-year-old, who recently returned to the Cards following a short spell with Gillingham, was unable to add to his 10 goals in his 11th appearance for the Skrill Premier side, who conceded twice in the second half.

Freddie Veseli and Bury’s League Two game at Mansfield was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, while Elliott Hewitt’s loan side Gillingham weren’t scheduled to play.

Meanwhile, Town dropped to eighth in the Championship following Brighton's 1-0 home victory over Leeds.

Although I enjoy discovering the exploits of our young talent, it is only of value if jack is given a chance in the first team.
Surely he can't be much worse than Nouble or Murphy??

Was following the match on the BBC web text. Jack 'hit the woodwork' in the 38th minute, and had shots 'blocked'. Near misses at other points, too. Clearly worries defenders and has pace: fouled in opponents' half more than once, and was caught offside

I live near Salisbury and would have loved to see him play but it just wasn't possible. I was cheered up this morning on reading the New Zealands Managers comments after not selecting Smithie for their next match which were: "Emblen said: "I'm sympathetic to Tommy's situation. His club agreed to release him but Tommy feels this is an opportunity to prioritise his club who are fighting for promotion for the first time in a while.". Great Tommy that is the attitude we want here.
