Fixture Computer Must Be a Norwich Fan!
Thursday, 6th Mar 2014 06:00

Boss Mick McCarthy joked that the Football League’s fixture computer must be a Norwich fan with the Blues facing back-to-back lengthy trips twice in the next few weeks.

Town, who have seven games March, travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday and then Yeovil on Tuesday and they start April with two similarly long treks within a few days of one another.

“It is what it is. It’s not ideal,” McCarthy said. “I think the fixture computer’s a Norwich fan! We’ve got to go to Blackburn and Huddersfield on a Saturday and the following Tuesday as well.

“The question is, if you go up do you stay up? It’s a long old time, going up Friday afternoon and not getting back to Wednesday morning.

“I think the balance of being up there and preparing is counter-balanced by them being away from their families, not seeing the kids, being bored out of their boxes and not being able to do anything on the Sunday.

“So we take them to the pictures or 10-pin bowling or something boring and they don’t want to be there. It’s difficult.”

Being away from Ipswich between two games, for two days? And they can't handle that? Are they toddlers?

Travelling long distances seated and in close proximity to other people is unsuitable preparation for most things (skydiving excluded). Muscles aren't relaxed and germs spread easily. For those reasons alone it is better to stay at home than play away.

If Norwich are within a few points of relegation going into their last 4 games then they're goners! The thing i keep asking myself is do we really want to play them twice next year?

Lets hope they don't sack Houghton, back to headline apart from London clubs whoever we play they are long away trips that's what you get for living in the best county in the country.

Let's hope the Premier League title goes down to the wire, otherwise there could be a repeat of last season when Norwich won at Man City on the last day, purely because Man City players had already started their Summer holidays.

Michael11: I sincerely hope you're right about Naarwich being for the chop, but I think it's three games coming up fairly soon that will define their season: Sunderland, W. Brom, and Fulham. They might scrape a few points there, and then not need to get much from the last four fixtures, which certainly couldn't be much more difficult on paper. Hope I'm wrong. I'd rather play next season the budgies than see them chirping away in the PL.

It's a tough one for the budgies, if they lose any of the next 3 games I think Hoots is a gonner, a new manger might give them enough of a dead cat boounce to avoid relegation. I want to see them just out of the bottom 3 on goal diffrence going into the last 3 games of the season hopefully with Hughton still in charge. Then its fingers crossed the do a wolves, appoint an unkown foreign manger, get stuffed by us twice next season sack said manager in Feb at which point its to late to affect any change and they finally disspear into the wilderness (wishfull thinking).

If they acted now could the get say Laudrup? Hope not.
