Hammond Suffers Long-Term Knee Injury
Monday, 17th Mar 2014 17:36

Academy second-year scholar Kyle Hammond has revealed that he will be out of action for the next seven to nine months after rupturing an anterior cruciate knee ligament during Saturday’s 3-1 U18s defeat at QPR.

The 18-year-old former Westbourne High School pupil tweeted: “Ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament in my knee which means I won’t be able to play football for about 7-9 months. Gutted.”

The right-back previously missed 12 weeks of the early part of the season with another anterior cruciate ligament injury, having been part of the first-team squad during pre-season and being amongst the subs at Stevenage in the Capital One Cup.

After returning to action Hammond, who is yet to be offered professional terms, again trained with the senior side and was in the matchday 20 on a number of occasions.

The remaining months of Hammond’s scholarship will now be suspended until he returns to fitness next season.

I too suffered this injury and had the surgery. You are very lucky to be surrounded by professional help on all fronts. Modern technology and techniques have moved on and you'll make a full recovery, don't worry. You'll be back playing next season. Best wishes.
