Veseli: A Good Learning Curve
Thursday, 27th Mar 2014 11:30

On-loan right-back Freddie Veseli says his three-month spell with League Two Bury has been a “good learning curve”.

The 21-year-old former Manchester City and Manchester United academy player’s only senior game prior to joining the Shakers in January was his single Town appearance in the 2-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Stevenage in August.

The former Swiss U21 international told the Bury Times that he has learnt a lot about first-team football during his time at Gigg Lane, which has three matches to run.

“At Hartlepool and Chesterfield, in my opening two games, I was nowhere near the standard I should have been,” he admitted.

“It’s a different style of play for me. It’s not always the tactical or technical side, it’s more the physical. It can only do me good and that’s why I came here - to play some games.

“In my point of view, I think I have done better every single game. Most importantly, I think I have learned every game and hopefully the fans got to see that.

“It’s been a good learning curve, I think. I left reserve football behind in the summer when I signed for Ipswich and I just want to go and play first-team football somewhere now, ideally at Ipswich. My plan is to take what I learned here and put that into the games there.”

Veseli, who has made 15 appearances for Bury, says he’s enjoyed his time with the Lancastrians: “The lads have been great with me from day one and obviously the coaching staff as well. Everyone at the club has been really good and I wouldn’t want to leave here and see a Bury side losing games.

“Hopefully, when I do leave they will carry on a good run and I just wish them the best really.”

Veseli signed a two-year deal with the Blues last summer following his release from Old Trafford.

I live in Bury and know quite a few Shakers fans. They say he has improved and is now a sold League 2 full-back. However he has not dazzled or done anything to suggest that he could slot into a promotion chasing championship side. Don't think we will be seeing him in a Town shirt any time soon.

Hopefully Veseli can start living up to some of the massive potential he has shown in the past now for us
