Anderson Out to Add to Former Club's Woes
Friday, 28th Mar 2014 10:12

Town midfielder Paul Anderson may have sympathy for former club Nottingham Forest but he is determined to add to their recent misery when they come to Portman Road this weekend.

Forest, just one goal better off than Town in seventh, have failed to win any of their last eight league games, collecting a paltry three points from a possible 24.

Anderson said: “Their form is a big surprise. They have spent a lot of money but there’s been a lot of change and it’s not easy. When there’s change around it’s never easy to gel as quickly as you might hope.

“They have also had a lot of injuries to their main players and while people say you can’t blame injuries I think they have a full eleven who could play as the first team and they are all ruled out.

“We’ve had David McGoldrick ruled out for the season and we all know what a big loss that is but they have had six or seven ‘David McGoldricks’ disappear out of the team.

“At one stage they looked to be in with a chance of automatic promotion — they weren’t far off Burnley and it seemed that anyone from them, QPR and Derby might have taken the second spot.

“I’m disappointed for them but they have a big enough squad that should be capable of putting a half-decent run together to keep them within the play-offs.

“We’ll just be looking at ourselves and we’ll be going into the game thinking that we’ll win and hopefully go into the top six, although we might still be hovering just outside.”

Anderson revealed he had a good working relationship with Billy Davies, who was sacked by Forest following their 5-0 thumping at Derby last weekend, during the manager’s first period in charge.

He said: “I don’t have any bad words to say about the man. He gave me a great opportunity and we had two very successful years with him, getting into the play-offs.

“I can’t complain about my time with him but everyone has different opinions about people. For me he is one of the best managers I’ve worked under and I’m fortunate to have had that time with him.

“But as much as I loved my time at Forest I don’t have any ties there any more. They have nothing to do with me. I’m Ipswich player now and this is probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed my football.

“It’s the best environment I’ve ever been in and we’re desperate to be the team that makes the play-offs. At the end of the day, if it’s at the expense of Nottingham Forest then so be it.”

Im so up for this game, cant wait for tomorrow!! however there is this little thought at the back of my mind that teams seem to end there bad runs against us :/ Need a big crowd there on Saturday to help lift the team and get us on track for that ever so close 6th spot!!

Time and time again we play teams in poor form and don't get the result, so it's time to end that Saturday. Forest haven't scored in their last three games and recently lost to Barnley and Charlton. They are in an uncertain position, especially with Warnock and Pearce turning them down, so we need to get the three points. With Williams in the team, I think we will.

Yep far too many times this season we have let teams struggling or out of confidence get at least a point, tomorrow this has to change.
I read the first 2 words of the above headline and thought that's not bad news 'Anderson out' then read the rest...he's still to win me over so far this season.

Here's to a win tomorrow!

He better play a darn-sight better than he did on Tuesday night. Made absolutely no difference to the team whatsoever, was a complete passenger.

However in his defence I have absolutely no idea why McCarthy played him on the left and Hunt on the right - neither have the skill to cut inside and score/create something, and neither are particularly strong on their weak foot. Still think if played on the right with a licence to hug the line and cross it rather than work the channels further inside he could be a good player for us.

agree @Kentish - I really don't see what Mick is doing as regards to those 2, that's not the first time he's done it either, they both are largely left wingers and certainly is not ideal that both of them start as wingers. Give me a true left and right winger.

Forest are there for the taking. Let's not do what we did vs Barnsley & Charlton.
