Skuse Replaces Wordsworth
Saturday, 29th Mar 2014 14:36

Cole Skuse returning to central midfield in place of Anthony Wordsworth is Mick McCarthy's only change to his team ahead of this afternoon’s home game against Nottingham Forest.

Wordsworth, who prior to last weekend hadn’t made a league start, is left out of the 18 having replaced Skuse during his absence with a hip injury in the victories against Brighton and Derby.

Forest hand 19-year-old England U19 international midfielder Ben Osborn a senior debut from the start.

Town: Gerken, Cresswell, Chambers (c), Berra, Smith, Skuse, Hyam, Hunt, Anderson, Williams, Murphy. Subs: Loach, Mings, Green, Tabb, Richardson, Ebanks-Blake, Nouble.

Nottingham Forest: Darlow, Jara, Halford, Collins(c), Fox, Greening, Peltier, Osborn, Majewski, Paterson, Mackie. De Vries, Harding, Tudgay, Derbyshire, McLaughlin, Cox, Blake. Referee: Andrew Madley (West Yorkshire).

I cannot believe this does Wordsworth have an injury?

The favourites win out again. And a player who has done really well gets dropped again because he is not a favourite.

I can't believe Forest are allowed 18 players in their starting line up

Disappointed by this news because woody has grabbed his chance with both hands and is more forward thinking than hyam, green and tabb. Is he injured?? Or is it too many games in a short period of time??

why drop wordsworth , drop hyam instead u dont need skuse and hyam
sounds like wordsworth has found out he's not in the team and gone off on one as he's not in the squad at all, sounds like a row with Mick to me
either that or its an injury ??
the former here me thinks

Unbelievable !! Bet MM would have plodded on with Skuse and Hyam if but for injury , we are playing a team with no manager who haven't won for 10 games at home , why do we need 2 defensive midfielders !!

A clear case of different game same old favourites.

Thats just what i thought would happen Woody has done nothing wrong and had a big part in winning to tough games just shows it doesn't matter how well you play MM will play his favorites.

Wheres your loyalty to players who come in a do a job MM , one rule for favourites again

If he was injured it would've been announced with the team news. He's obviously not impressed Mick where it matters - on the training pitch. Cole Skuse brought Mick an apple for his lunch. The rest is history.

2 games in a week , he would of been monitored in training and MM would of seen a dip in stamina. He did fade very badly in last 15 mins vs Derby, hardly surprising as he ran his socks off. Remember he had hardly played this season . He will get his chance again for sure.

Feck sake MM, if Wordsworth is not injured then this is totally unfair on the guy, awful man management mistake

Tractamatt added 14:47 - Mar 29
So Woody puts a shift in everyone's on cloud nine and MM starts by dropping him for his mate what does that say to players like him. Can't wait to see what the rose tinted posters will say IF we lose

also all this he cant manage 3 games in a week, the rest of the squad can so its no excuse...hope skuse does well today or this will be frustrating

He must be injured or lacking match fitness. I don't think MM would have left him out for any other reason.

Skuse will score ,why cant we just back the team he selects as opposed to spending so much time discussing who he has not picked. Today is a tough game 1 all i reckon or poss 0 0. Remember when we need a win and are expected to it never happens ,not ever. COYB

Woody has been putting I n extra training to make sure he doesn't fall away in fitness. ISo that's crap from the MM apologists about fitness. This is just an apalling decision by the manager who will always play his favourites over others no matter what! Then he'll talk about players grabbing their chances when they come along. The man is BS itself. He may have done a good job stabilising the ship but an getting so tired of his BS!

mmm... a tad disappointing, Hunt & Anderson still in although they haven't set the world on fire the last 2 games and Wordsworth gets dropped, Mick slowly reverts to defensive options (again).

bluefeast why is today a tough game , Forest are a club in disarray ? Excuses already being made ?

Bluetone added 15:05 - Mar 29
I heard Woody had failed in the running round aimlessly sessions at training.
