Cresswell Hoping for End-of-Season Double
Friday, 11th Apr 2014 11:57

Aaron Cresswell is resisting the temptation to look too far ahead at the prospect of rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s top stars next season.

He prefers the steady, one-game-at-the-time mentality favoured by manager Mick McCarthy, although he certainly isn’t denying he is excited by the thought of possibly becoming a Premier League player.

Cresswell is actually hoping for a memorable end-of-season double as he explained: “Hopefully we make the play-offs then go up and Liverpool win the Premiership title. I can’t wait for it.

“But I don’t really like to look at the fixtures and say ‘We can get a win here and a win there’. I think it’s best if you just look at the next game and try to get the three points, and then the next one after that and so on.

“At this stage of the season you can put a bit of pressure on yourself if you look too far ahead and think about what could or even should happen. The best thing is just to put 100 per cent into every game.

“Don’t get me wrong, as soon as every game is over we’re looking to see how the other results affect us. At Huddersfield on Tuesday I came off early and our masseur, James Pullen, was keeping me up to date, telling me Reading were losing and so were Forest, although they got a draw in the end.

“It’s good when you win and the others don’t, and you realise you’re back in it again. During the week there’s always talk about what it would mean if we made it and what a great occasion it could be, but we just look at every game as it comes and go from there.”

@oscarwhiting

Yep, you're right. A Frank Nouble bullet header at Wembley will secure promotion for us and Man City will win the league!!

As an aside, is it me or was 'masseur James pullen' once a decent young keeper at town? Anyone know if it's the same? Good to know he's still in the game if so!

@Durham, it is indeed the same guy :)

I like Cressy, good player for the club and with all the speculation about him he has never let it turn his head, which is great for a young guy.
