Marriott Nets Four in Friendly
Monday, 28th Apr 2014 16:15

Jack Marriott netted four times and Byron Lawrence once as a Town development side beat Peterborough United 5-2 in a behind closed doors friendly at Nene Park Academy this afternoon.

The 19-year-old recently returned from his loan spell at Woking and could make his second senior appearance when the Blues complete their season with a game against Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road on Saturday.

Joe Newell scored both goals for the home side, while ex-Posh striker Paul Taylor was in action for Town.

Certainly deserves a run-out at the very least considering his form this season.

For me, MM has to start him. I dont see what 15-20 min substitute app will do for him. Nothing to play for may as well give him a run out and see how he does. Perhaps even TRY and play some passing football..?

Should play instead of Williams on Saturday. Williams is a fantastic player but he's not our future, therefore that's who I'd drop to start Marriott. Really hope he's given a chance next season and not dumped out on loan again.

Murphy as looked tired and out of form for he past three games. Give Marriott a go with nothing to play for.

Jaso999 you cant play Marriott instead of Murphy you need them to play together as a front pair after all we will be at home with nothing to play for also be good to see Henshall instead of Hunt.

I'd like to see Marriott, Henshall,Taylor and Williams start as I think a deal could be done in the summer for Williams if we sell Cresswell

....... and he stayed on the bench when we needed GOALS on Saturday at Burnley !!!!

Marriot is another Rhodes - he will score at any level - remember my prediction.

How about Veseli as well, although expect he will find a place for Tabby as he must be devasted about not playing recently. If Hyam is fit and Woody then why not give them a go as well.Think Skues should be rested.
Wont affect promotion or relegation so Mick wont be able to use this excuse,so lets see what some of fringe players can do in a competitive first team game!

A certain amount of optimism for next season if you include Taylor, Marriot, Hewitt etc; - and then you are faced with the fact that MM will never change his style of play.

Proof was there on Saturday - for everyone with a brain to see that it just will not happen.

I think the game was behind closed doors as there were new youth players involved, trialists, or something like that!

Give marriott a chance on sat, please mick:)

For me it's a no-brainer to give Marriott 90 minutes saturday...unfortunately I can see Mick sticking with the usual suspects and trying to grind out 3 points.

Langdon_Blue added 18:55 - Apr 28
I suspect he'll come on as sub rather than start. The Championship is a big step up from Non-League reserve games. Joining the game in the second half also gives him the upper hand as the Wednesday defenders would have already ran (hopefully) for an hour or so and Marriott will have fresh legs. That improves his chances of scoring which in turn would boost his confidence for next season.

Village blue - point taken, but I'd still give Murphy a rest. Nouble and Marriott then. Main point is with nothing to lose, get Marriott in from the start.

........... careful boys - we must not create too much flair in our expectancy for next season.

All making the right noises and raising good points - but the Manager may well have 'other' ideas.

You know what I mean 'arry ........... !!!
