Foley Now Not Set for Norwich Return
Friday, 23rd May 2014 17:56

Town academy coach Steve Foley is no longer set to rejoin Norwich City with Ryman League Division One North Needham Market announcing that he will be continuing his part-time role with them, having earlier confirmed his impending exit.

Having withdrawn the statement confirming that Foley, 60, was on his way back to Carrow Road as new manager Neil Adams’s first-team coach, as TWTD reported last night, the Marketmen issued another press release late this afternoon.

“The earlier report of Steve leaving the club has turned out to be incorrect and he will continue in his role as head coach. No further comment will be made on the subject.”

Adams's appointment, which was confirmed yesterday, and Foley's planned return have been widely criticised by Canaries fans still reeling from their recent relegation from the Premier League.

Foley previously worked at Carrow Road in a number of roles between 1996 and 2006, during which time he coached Adams, having initially been brought to the club by Mike Walker.

After his Norwich contract as Nigel Worthington's first-team coach was terminated following the 2005/06 campaign, Jim Magilton added the former Colchester United stalwart to his Town staff in a specialist skills coach role.

Foley left the Blues in 2010 during Roy Keane’s time as boss but was brought back to the club by academy director Bryan Klug as a youth development coach in the summer of 2012 working with 12-16-year-olds, while also coaching part-time with Needham Market.

Presumably he doesn't want to move for the four months it will take the Norwich board to realise they've made a mistake with Adams.

Some really dumb remarks on here as expected. Let Foley stay at Needham, we need new & dynamic coaches to get us above the budgies who I expect to double us again but I hope not by the same score lines as last time. Do think they made a massive mistake sacking Houghton & putting Adams in charge. As for Norwich being a yoyo team at least they had some time in the premiership and have played some decent football rather than the misery we put up with. No I'm not a Canaries fan but a realist, ITFC have been awful since JM was booted out, I want us to be the pride of East Anglia again but it won't happen under MM & Evans.
