Murphy Set for International Action
Saturday, 24th May 2014 21:44

Town striker Daryl Murphy will be hoping to win his 11th cap and score his first international goal when the Republic of Ireland take on Turkey in their first friendly of the summer at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Sunday (Sky Sports One, 5.30pm).

Murphy made his first Ireland appearance in nearly six years when he came on as a sub in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Serbia in March.

Recent loanee Paul Green and ex-Blues Damien Delaney and Jon Walters are also in Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane’s squad.

Ireland subsequently face Italy at Craven Cottage on May 31st, Costa Rica in Philadelphia on June 6th and Portugal in New Jersey on June 10th.

Meanwhile, loanee Alex Henshall, who is a free agent having been released by Manchester City, appears to be hinting that he is close to confirming a permanent deal with the Blues on Twitter.

Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed that the 20-year-old had been offered terms towards the end of the season.

Stepped up brilliantly when McGoldrick got his injury at the end of the season. It's great to see a few of our players getting international recognition for their performances.
