Crowe's Wales Defeated
Friday, 30th May 2014 19:08

Keeper Michael Crowe and the Wales U19s fell to a 3-2 defeat to hosts Portugal in the second game of their Euro 2014 elite qualifying group in Matosinhos.

The Welsh youngsters, who are coached by ex-Blues midfielder Geraint Williams, netted twice in the final 10 minutes to level having gone 2-0 behind in the first half, but the Portuguese grabbed a winner in the penultimate minute.

Wales take on Greece in their final match on Monday, having drawn 1-1 with Belgium in their opening match, but can now no longer qualify for this summer’s finals in Hungary with only the group's winners going through.

London-born Crowe, whose father is English and mother Norwegian, joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 from Kristiansand-based side IK Start, having been brought up in Norway. He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother.

The 18-year-old, a second-year academy scholar during 2013/14, signed a two-year professional contract in September and has been on the first team bench on a couple of occasions, most recently at Watford.

Euro 2014 Elite....?

Good grief - Division One will be called "The Premiership" at this rate.

Division Two? Maybe "Championship" will keep us all happy?

Marketing, and the slyly sinuous use of snake-like words.......rather silly, really!
