Charlton Date Switch Confirmed
Friday, 27th Jun 2014 15:57

Charlton Athletic have confirmed that their visit to Portman Road has moved from Sunday 28th December to Tuesday 30th December, kicking-off at 7.45pm.

The switch means Town now have an unusually high seven evening Championship home games this season, eight including the Fulham match on the opening Saturday, which kicks-off at 5.15pm for Sky coverage, in addition to a further four away from Portman Road.

As reported yesterday, the Blues are keen to avoid playing two games in three days, as they did at Easter during 2013/14, and the home game against AFC Bournemouth could be brought forward a day to Good Friday from Saturday 4th April.

Confirmation that the home derby will move to Sunday 24th August is expected early next week, while Town’s Friday 26th December game at Brentford could switch to a 1pm kick-off, as has been the case with Bees’ Boxing Day games in the past.

Annoying that we now have another tuesday night game at home, but i guess it's beneficial to the team

Disappointed with this. Not living in Ipswich, it's much easier to travel for a afternoon kick off on a Sunday, rather than a Tuesday evening over the festive period. Looks like one game ill have to miss.

I can however understand that the club reserve the right to change games, but seven evening kick offs is too high for those who have to travel. Just my opinion mind.

Presumably 'midweek' should read 'evening'?

7 at home and 5 away midweek next season, has to be a record?
About time ITFC updated next seasons fixture list.

Thought midweek implied evening but evening probably makes more sense given the mention of the Fulham game.

Really hacked off at this. I can't get to evening matches as I don't finish work early enough. Almost a third of all home matches now lates. Does the club not have a say in this? Have emailed them to see if I can get a refund on my season ticket direct debits if I cancel

Surely would have been a much better crowd for the coffers if it was a Sunday game over the festive period!!?

Says Charlton have confirmed, are Town scared of telling us then!!
