Cresswell Fee Could Rise to £7m
Friday, 4th Jul 2014 00:03

Various sources close to West Ham are reporting that Town could ultimately receive £7 million for full-back Aaron Cresswell if all the top-ups included in the deal are triggered, with the Blues receiving an initial £3.75 million.

The further milestone top-ups are based on Premier League appearances for the Upton Park club, Cresswell having put pen to paper on a five-year deal this evening. The fee is officially undisclosed.

Cresswell's former club Tranmere Rovers are entitled to 20 per cent of the profit the Blues have made on the £420,000 they paid for him following his summer 2011 switch to Portman Road, a figure which could reach £1.32 million if the Blues receive the reported full £7 million from the Hammers.

A Football League tribunal set a compensation figure of an initial £240,000 plus milestone clauses, with only a £100,000 payment on promotion to the Premier League not triggered.

Cresswell, named in the Championship Team of Year for 2013/14, made 138 appearances for Town, all starts, scoring seven goals. He will join up with the West Ham squad for their training camp in France tomorrow.

I suspect having a lawyer and an accountant as joint md's means we're pretty good at negotiating now then.......

What a stunning deal for Town! Just goes to show that all the 'best left back in the championship' reminders really did bump up the price!

if this is the case then we have to hope that he fulfills his potential at west ham and really kicks on. 4 million that could potentially rise to 7 million is pretty good business and softens the blow of losing him. for me it had to be 4 million at least. good luck cressy

It does sound like a good deal & the £3.75m up front part is key, so Mick can have funds available immediately to go sign the next potential Aaron Cresswell. Investment can bring great rewards, like in this case; only signing free transfers limits such prospects.

Good luck Aaron at your new club.

Sure MM will spend wisely. Hope he invests it in future talent: if I was in charge would get in Jake Bidwell (Brentford) to compete with Mings at LB (probably cost 750000).
See if we can get Adam Forshaw in and make a bid for Callum Wilson

had to re read that headline,
fantastic fee and even better ITFC have an instant replacment.
Spent wisely this can be just like the Dyer sale, funding a charge to promotion.

This is great news, as although he is a very talented lad, he was nowehere near our most valuable player last season, and we will finally have some money to invest in new players (Marcus willing).

And good luck Aaron.

Im gutted that he has gone he was a real star for us!!! oh well i wish you all the best cressy! As for the money there are some priorities we need to use it for 1) jonny williams 2)joniesta 3) a right winger (although i do quite like anderson in that position!)!! Lest jope mick does not squander this money!! COYB

Good luck Aaron. You've been a good servant for the Town. I really hope you do well, for your sake and for ours. And yes, let's give PJ a bit of credit: everything he did wasn't a disaster. Pity Aaron had to go to a lesser club, but the increased wages will no doubt help a bit. When Wet Spam go down and we go up, he can maybe come back on better financial terms.

I hope Mings is given his chance and the money is spent elsewhere and MM gets in a "free" signing to cover at LB.

Before I mention anything I thought I'd say, fantastic deal for all those involved !

However I do think you are all speculating a little with the players you are thinking ipswich may now sign. Just because you sell a player for a big fee does not mean you will spend all or maybe even half of it. Ipswich have sharp and on the ball mds and a realist as a manager. I think maybe you may see many free agents brought in as this transfer fee will sinply pay the wages in year sums, I.e if someone is brought in with a salary of 5 grand a week 180k of the money is spoken for. We may see a few 2-500k deals taking place but as for the 750k-2m pound players you are all putting on herr I think you may be dissapointed. Keep up the good work mm and may I say thanks to paul jewell who brought this man into the club testament to a very over-slated manager ! Who may I add also brought in captain chambers on a free ! And my favorite player (who will never push through under mm as you can see he doesnt fancy him) elliot hewitt.

Thank you for all your efforts Aaron. Think we'd all wish him well and welcome him back any time. Very happy with the fee now its £3m up front as £750,000 goes to Tranmere. That can get 2 or 3 quality players with that. Hope Evans puts it into the transfer kitty rather than pocket it!

If true, then I don't think anyone can complain about that. An excellent deal for the club and one we frankly couldn't turn down. Nor should we stand in his way. I am still not sure West Ham are his best suitors but nonetheless I wish Cresswell all the very best for the future.

£3.75 - 7m..now that's more like it.

Good luck Aaron, though I think you would've had a more enjoyable season with us than struggling in the prem.

Invest what you get wisely Mick.

I work with a lot of hammers fans, funny how cresswell becomes a good player after he signs for them lol anyway back to my original point rumours are we are getting Henderson back, which wouldnt be too sad, lets see

If true a remarkable deal and I agree we have to be grateful to Paul Jewell for bringing him here in the first place. You get the feeling that our Club is at last beginning to shape up and going in the right direction. Just have to trust MM and his scouts to bring in the new faces we need. Henderson back is a decent shout for me after all he helped keep us up when all seemed lost.

Thanks for your service Cressy. Here's to a successful 2014/15 season for both you & ITFC.

Thanks for the cash West Ham, there you go Tranny you've finally got good value for the lad.

Well done joint MDs - looks a good deal.

OK Mick what have you got hidden behind the curtain ready to reveal for us?
