Hunt Signs Deal
Friday, 4th Jul 2014 14:07

Winger Stephen Hunt has confirmed that he has put pen to paper on his new one-year deal with Town. Blues boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that the 32-year-old had agreed new terms on Monday.

Hunt tweeted: “Two days' training done, en route to Rosslare [where he has his family home] and meet up fresh Monday morning ready to go.”

He added: “Oh and signed a new one-year deal #promotion #mentallystrong #promiseland”

The rest of the Blues squad will be travelling to Ireland on Sunday ahead of their week-long training camp at the Carton House hotel in Co Kildare.

Town’s first pre-season friendly is against Dublin side Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Saturday 12th July (KO 3pm).

Every team needs a hobbit! Not a bad option to bring off the bench...

Fair enough, welcome on board, now please give it your all for the season ahead.
He a good player, worth having as an option & he can certainly add soemthing to the squad bith on and off the field. Consistency & fitness will be key with Hunt.
The squad is starting to shape up now, although the balance doesn't seem right with 3 left wingers signed and Mick with a liking for Tabb out there too.
I would expect, cetrtainly hope, that Anderson has a good season, as he was playing an unfamiliar role with more defensive responsibility than he was used to, but we did still see flashes of what an asset he can be on the right wing. I can also see Hewitt getting a few games at right wing, possibly from the bench, next season, so maybe Mick thinks he has enough with Nouble having played there too & Henshall being right footed. I guess Taylor is even an option if Mick is serious about the clean slate.
New creative central midfileder and fox in the box striker next please.

Mr Inconsistent.

Good in the dressing room though.

I can see Hunt playing a similar role to Edwards last season, an option of the bench for the first half of the season, then hopefully in the second half Henshall, and maybe even Doherty, will start to be integrated more into the 1st team.

Still a useful option to have though, and obviously a top bloke to have in the dressing room.

It seems going back to Rosslare is more important than signing for Town "Oh and signed a new one year deal"

Perhaps MM is getting the balance between young players & the more experienced older pro,s just right with this signing. A bit of flair has been added to the squad this week & with the undoubted work ethic throughout, even I,m feeling quetly optimistic that we may just surprise a few this coming season.

As I said before, great to have around the place as he is a character and probably good for he younger players. However, with some money to spend now and after signing two wingers this summer, hunt will surely only be a squad player, missing out more times Than actually playing.

....... now if someone can teach him not to be so mesmerised by the ball, and look up occasionally to select a telling pass - we could be getting somewhere. Could have a very useful season from him.

Can't question his work rate, or enthusiasm tho'.
