Matchday Ticket Prices Frozen
Monday, 7th Jul 2014 17:44

Town have frozen matchday ticket prices for the season ahead.

As was the case last year, a lower tier Sir Alf Ramsey or Sir Bobby Robson Stand seat bought in advance of the match costs £21 for Grade C games, £27.50 for Grade B and £32 for Grade A, with prices rising by £2.50 for adults and all concessions and £1 for under-16s on the day of the match.

Town have released details of ticketing priority for the opening day of the season game against Fulham on Saturday 9th August (KO 5.15pm), which is Grade B, and the derby with Norwich City on Saturday 23rd August (KO 12.15pm), which is Grade A, on their website here. Both games are being shown live on Sky.

In March, Town announced a small rise in season ticket prices with sales up by around 200 on last year’s total.

Meanwhile, the Blues' move for Notts County keeper Bartosz Bialkowski is still ongoing but now seems unlikely to be completed today.

I wonder if other clubs are raising or freezing their prices? Grade A and B prices are still very expensive in comparison with them.

The banding structure has been kept the same, but prices have only been frozen if they allocate the same number of Band A, B and C games as last season.

For me, Band A prices are a rip off. £32 for the cheapest seats, bought in advance, for a Championship game is far too much. It puts people off coming, and we need new supporters, new people interested...future season ticket holders!

Last season Band A was only applied to the Leeds match, resulting in a low attendance, so I hope the Norwich game is a similar one-off this season.

A season ticket holder pays £17.35 a game, so £32.00 is very nearly double that.

For a lot of people £32 is all they'll spend all season...

I'm a season ticket holder, but am pleased match day tickets have been frozen, as frankly i think some games are overpriced and unaffordable for the average family of 4. Saying that, reducing match day tickets after increasing season ticket prices, would also have been a PR own goal. Good decision overall.

Why "band" games at all?? Such a ridiculous concept, does this really generate much more income over a season? A flat rate of £25 would make it more understandable, more logical and at least you'd know what you had to pay each time. I mean really, what retard dreams up this stuff?

Mark ... But by buying. Season ticket, purchasers are committing to every game. Sometimes it is not possible to attend them all, thus price per game works out more.a season ticket holder surely deserves a reduced rate?

Still too expensive.

32.00 is just far too much money to watch a championship game - fact

Yes, season ticket holders deserve a reduced rate for committing, but I think charging £32 is taking that too far. £32 is for the cheapest seats, if you want to sit along the side in the centre that costs £43 in advance or £45.50 on the day. The big danger is putting people off, with the derby being an excellent opportunity to get new people into supporting Ipswich and becoming future season ticket holders themselves.

How much would it cost me to watch Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich..? Yeah, 14 Euros. The worst thing is, we'll be pining after the halcyon days of paying £32 for a ticket if and when we ever get promoted to the premier league...

Like Smithy, not sure why games have to be banded. If we had to beat Rotherham to win the league, would it be up graded? Every Championship game is as important as the next. £20-£25 per game. Keep it simple.

Taking the season as a whole, that makes my season ticket poorer value than last year when compared to matchday prices.

Banding is a nonsense. Each game is only worth 3 points and the quality of the football played cannot be guaranteed before the game. Perhaps supporters should be offered a refund when they are given a Band C performance against a Band A team.

The "Banding" of games at this level is unacceptable. I reckon they do this because they can charge away supporters more though - more away support=Band A. I don't know what criteria the club uses for these Bands.

Yes the banding of games is a rip off,ok i know people who have a season ticket have commited and deserve to be treated as Gods but come on !!

Say a cheapest season ticket works out at £17.50 per game, which is very good value, why not make the match day tickets £20 for every game ? I know loads of people who won't pay over that figure.

Ok i know that Norwich will be a A band,Fulham will be a B band, but i bet that Leeds will be a A band to,as they always sell out there allocation,so it seems far to rip of the town fans to !
